Difference between Hopkins and Calzaghe?

That does seem true as of late in his career. He's like **** it, i'm already an ATG, what do i got to loose?

 

Calzaghe has only a handful of good opponents while B-Hop has a lot more,that doesn't mean Joe is weaker like the fight prooved it

 

This is a valid point, Hopkins seems determined to test himself by taking on the most difficult fights he can, while Calzaghe is clearly protecting the zero. I don't know how even the most ardent Calzaghe fan can deny this when Hopkins just took the fight he didn't want.

However, I don't think what either man does now in the twilight of their careers can be considered the difference between them, for me the reason has always and will always be there: Quality. IMO, they are both great fighters, but Hopkins is simply a boxer of higher quality all-round, re my top 25 fighters thread.

 

popkins didn't get the balls to step up, HBO an sancetioning bodys made him fight taylor, then after losing, he began to chase down all those big names. jr middle weight wright, tarver (overrated), an calzaghe who chase him around the ring, to get his victory,,,,bernard before taylor had few names on his resume, one jones who he lost too, an then trinadad an dlh, both pretty much at that point over blown welterweights,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,an for not fight palvik, i say after the jones fight, an if palvik wins, joe wants to match up with the white hype gost, then great i looking forward to it, but to say palvik is being ducked, ha ha ha ha ha ha, once again ha ha ha ha ha ha, this just crazy, palvik is not in joe league, he just hyped by a victory over a unmotivated taylor,,,,

 

well their the same in the sense that they both spent years being unknowns and fighting mandatories for peanuts ...

the only difference is ... hopkins is american ...calzaghe is european ...so that makes calzaghe the devil for doing so

 

Hopkins had to make a big sacrifice to get the big fight with Trinidad.

He was still with King and ended up fighting Daniels, Hakkar, and Joppy.

Then after he splits with King, he gets the big fight with DLH, and big fights for pretty much the rest of the way.

Calzaghe wasn't willing to make that sacrifice when he was with Warren.

 

Hopkins is an all time great past his prime.

calzaghe is neither.

 

Hopkins is a ****. Calzaghe isnt.

2 of Calzaghe's 5 were against Manfredo and Bika.

My gran would knock Manfredo out properly at SMW, not get the fight stopped unjustly by a blinding flurry of slaps. And I'd take her to beat Bika by late stoppage or landslide UD.

But the old girl would have no chance v Calzaghe, Wright, Tarver or Taylor.
