Not trying to discredit PAC's achievements, but some things need to be put into proper perspective: -Manny Pac didn't beat Cotto OR Margarita until both had either been destroyed or had career changing wars in the ring. Furthermore, Cotto had barely survived against Clottey before getting a Pac payday, while Margarita was also coming off an extended layoff before he became "suitable" for being a Pac opponent. Both guys were nowhere near the same as they were before facing each other. -De La Hoya was severely drained for his fight with Pac, which ROach admits to. -Clottey?? Guy was happy to receive a paycheck and not rock the boat. THis man showed up to lose happily for Arum. We ain't heard from him since. -Hatton?? Guy had already been comprehensively destroyed at his peak level of confidence by Floyd Mayweather Jr prior to facing Pac. Had been exposed by Luis Collazo (who was robbed in that fight). Credit to Pac for fighting him at 140 (Hatton's best weight), but moving down to 140 from '47 probably affected his punch resistance. -Let's not forget -- Shane Mosley called out both Pac AND Mayweather after he pummeled and stopped Margarita. Roach told him "NO" to a fight with Pac at 147 and ignored Shane when he said he'd fight Pac at 140. Floyd dominates Marquez, then Mosley calls him out on the spot. Fight gets signed. Why didn't Pac fight Mosley before Floyd did?? :smoke People say Mayweather has no balls, but I think both these guys do some clever matchmaking. Especially Pac. Pac needs to agree to the Olympic style drug testing. If he's clean, then he will. If Floyd won't sign after that, then it's on him. I just hope both sides come to terms and we get the answer everyone wants -- Pacquiao vs Mayweather.
Margarito did not train for Mosley as Emanuel Steward pointed out before that fight. However, Margarito was in the best shape of his career for Pac, did not do him any good. Pac had an easy time with Margarito, busted him up badly. Pac could have knocked Margarito out, no doubt about it, but he carried him because of his battered face, including broken bones. Pac will knock Mosley out if they ever get into a ring together.
lol that was an accidental deal! it's not like mayweather have been dying to get this fight done man. mosley and berto was signed when pac and mayweather was doing the first negotiation. unfortunately, it failed. pac moved on to look for another opponent, the highest rank available at THAT TIME. (because like i said mosley/berto was already signed) then the haiti tragedy came and the mosley/berto fight was canceled. floyd had no other option but to fight mosley. who do you think floyd would have fought if the mosley/berto was not canceled?
You raise a good point about that fight coming through "by accident" when all was said and done. :yep But..... Don't forget that several years ago, Mayweather called out Mosley and pressed for that fight. Mosley's excuse was that he "had to have some dental work done" so the fight didn't happen. Floyd had called Shane out and pushed for that fight years ago. On the other hand, Pac straight up DUCKED Mosley. But at this point, I have a feeling they would take a Mosley fight. History shows that Pac's people like having him fight guys who Floyd has already dominated. 100% credit to whoever wins the head-to-head once Pac vs May is signed. :bbb No excuses. It is possible to appreciate both guys.
yah and shane threw haymakers the entire fight and still couldn't knock marg out cold, marg was smiling. it's so obvious marg lost the fight before it even started.
