    Hi guys,

I would like to know what the difference is between Russian boxing training and that of the USA.

What do the russians do for strenght?

Maybe one of you guys know more about Russian boxing training(amateur and also professional).

Theres a russian guy at my gym.
He does all kind of stuff none of the other lads do.

-Usually warms up with this bizzare crouhing walk, kind of like an upright bear crawl.
-Does the Mike Tyson neck stuff
    -Does headstands

Personally, I would be more interested in what the Cubans do.

From what Ive read they also put a load more emphasis on shadow boxing to perfect technique instead of using it mostly as a warm up excercise like most gyms over here do

They don't do anything out of the ordinary, just a lot of old school stuff and they train ALL DAY

The Russian amateurs do loads of shadow boxing, like 2 hours a day I've read.

Obviously they are taught to box in quite a different style to American and Cuban fighters as well - more of an upright, defensive style.

Most of their exercises revolve around punching.

the biggest difference is head movement. and moving the head out of harm's way when firing off your on punches. thats the american style.

from watching cubans they are in and out, muc like the soviets and european style
