Can someone explain to me the difference in styles between america, mexico, europe, asia, australia etc. I always hear people say about certain fighters they have a european style, or a mexican style and so on............ Is it the difference in the stance, standing up taller, or crouching. Im interested to know. cheers :good
european - a tall up right boxer, good straight punches, slightly robotic EG Wladimir Klitschko mexican - aggresive, good chinned, body puncher, relentless EG Antonio margarito Classical British - Lots of movement behind a stiff jab, mostly lead ahnd work EG Ken Buchanan thats the only 3 styles i know about, its aload of balls IMO though for the most part nowadays
Cuban - Mix of all the styles, good foot movement, very technical. They have something of everything.
Europeans tend to have the slightly lower guards, and keep their arms more extended out a bit. Throw mostly straight punches, but also work in the hooks/uppercuts from time to time. The Klitschko brothers are the perfect example of a European style. Most spanish countries have a tight, high guard stance and go to the body a lot. Most of their fighters have good chins, take a lot of shots, but many of them are not 100% clean, many glancing blows. The United States has a wide variety of styles due to the wide variety of cultures, so you can't really pick 1 average style for the US.
