It was a SD and hopkins fans can argue he thought he had it in the bag so he took his foot of the gas. The real reason was he fought as hard as a 43 year old can fight.

That also may have been a matter of fatigue though. It's been said that his corner told him to stay away, but all I heard in the corner was "box, box", and Alcazar clearly told him to "make sure the judges know you won the round".

DLH has admitted on more than one occasion that he was tired.

Can certainly argue it either way, but I feel that Oscar switched off mentally as much as it being physical fatigue. Ie, he was reaching for the finishing line, which can increase the feeling of fatigue.

DLH proved on other occasions (Quartey, Vargas) that he could fight through the pain barrier, and there isn't anything in his record to suggest that he would fall apart dramatically in a less than eventful fight.

Whatever it was that sparked his late rounds funk, I think it would have similarly happened with around 4 rounds to go in a 15 round fight, by which point the fight should have been in the bag.

Also, I was trying to avoid suggesting the obvious "Fighter X rallies late but loses 12 round decision" results and looking at it from a different perspective :think

I would say Steve Cunningham may have had enough to beat YPH and Chisora might have beat Helenius, but with that ridiculous scoring in mainland Europe you never know.
I'm sure Hopkins would have beat Taylor and Barrera may have edged Marquez.
Matthyse might have beat Judah and Alexander.
But the winner has to be Pacquaio-Margarito.Tony was coming on strong in those final seconds...
