He looks sloppy, sometimes over commits when he throws the right hand, has his left hand too low as well. But has a pretty good jab, OK speed, good reach and power. He's jittery as well which is usually a sign of a fighter who hasn't adapted well yet to the pro game, early Wlad and David Price have the same habit. Makes it easy to time a fighter as you can predict openings in their guard.
It is NOT 50/50. Have you seen the betting odds? If you think Whyte has a 50/50 shot at this then you should put a few dollars on him. He is not far off being a 10/1 underdog.
I'm not picking Whyte because of that, I'm picking Whyte because I think AJ's power is overrated and Whyte has a decent punch as well, and AJ's chin is very suspect and his natural tendency to be over aggressive may blow up in his face in this match.
Well hard to know how hard he really hits.... But how quickly he dispatched of the never before KO'd, and only dropped once KJ was pretty impressive, as was his blow out of the durable Love who has been stopped but usually only fairly late as well. Going off what we've seen it's hard not to pick Joshua here. Whyte is pretty aggressive himself, and can be tagged as well.
KJ was half dead when faced AJ and its been 6 years since he faced someone with a punch, and all his stoppage of Love tells me is that he hits slightly harder than Molina, Martin and Ruiz, who aren't huge punchers anyway, so what. He couldn't KO most of the top amateurs he faced that should tell you something right there. He's got Wilder like power the moment he steps up the KO's will go down.
Yeah no question that we won't be seeing guys dropping like flies as he steps up in class, that's obvious to anyone who's followed boxing for a while. I just don't see very much in Whyte has over him.
You've just spent the last few posts trying to convince us that AJ is the new George Foreman. Don't backtrack now.
He may have superior or at the very least even power.:think Even though Costa Junior has been KO'd several times now, Whyte was the guy that did it the quickest. And it was quite awhile after Parker got to him and he also took Minto out quicker than Parker, and I rate Parker's power pretty high so......
Why would you even bother talking about how quickly AJ has blown the previous 14 guys out? All 14 of them were looking for a place to lay down. Every single one of them. If he does the same to Whyte, fine. We can talk about him being a genuine puncher. But until he's beaten Whyte - the first guy he's fought with a pulse - any talk of him being a puncher or anything else is bullshine. Boxing fans do this time and again with punchers. They get carried away. Matthyse was the last one. Who mentions him now? I bet you were his biggest fan bois.
Well I'm not picking based purely on power, but technical ability. Both guys clearly aren't featherfisted. Also A> fighters quicker than B doesn't really always work dude. Both got them out of there impressively, and I'm pretty sure on both occasions Parker fought better prepared versions. I know Minto fought Whyte on very short notice, and well Costa Jr. has obviously lapsed into full time "ready whenever" type of journeyman.
Yeah I know, but still he punches harder than most people seem to think he does. AJ may have superior skills, but who has he faced that tried to back him up, he's faced punching bags, Whyte will throw back and at HW all it takes is one shot, forget the Whyte KD, what about the Nistor stoppage? What about the fact that he was rocked by Savon and Medzhidov several times? This all can't be dismissed as youthful inexperience he seems to have a fragile mandible. Not saying Whyte for sure KO's him, but there's a 50/50 chance of it.:deal
I'm not sold on Joshuas chin, or stamina yet either.... But I don't think Whyte will be the guy to test him. Power isn't everything. You need the combination of power AND skill to be effective. Whyte just seems too limited to really test Joshua from what I've seen.
