    Are you stoned ?

looking for openings from Whyte ?

he is as open as a barn door and uses his chin as a defensive tool which has betrayed him over and over again......he is going to eat King kongs straight left until his chin gives out which will be quick.....................after the Povetkin loss his chin is made of pure glass, it was never top notch,a face first plodder with nil defense never recovers from a KO like that

Whyte doesn't have much head movement, but he has a decent high guard which he uses to defuse a lot of heavy hitters. His problem is that due to his lack of amateur pedigree and overall lack of coordination he has a habit of doing weird unintuitive things at times. The shot that Joshua finished him with came when Whyte had his left arm extended; Povetkin's finish came when Whyte had his right arm extended; the Rivas uppercut (that could have been a KO shot) came when he ducked sideways against the ropes and didn't see the punch coming.

Saying that I think he's managed to iron a lot of these flaws out of his game as he's become more seasoned, and I think he's got to a point where his style is about as solid as it can be working with the tools he has, and provided he boxes behind his guard I can't see Ortiz having the offensive skills to hurt him to the head. Maybe with his looping right that could come round the guard, but I think the majority of his scoring shots will be left straights to the body.

Defence is a weird one. I actually don't agree that Ortiz is better at defending shots, though he's a lot more consistent with his defence if that makes sense. Like you're more likely to land something on him that could be counted a scoring blow, but he's not as likely to give you a fight ending opportunity like Whyte does. Hammer landed his right hand numerous times on Ortiz, while a far better offensive fighter in Rivas often found his shots blatting off Whyte's gloves, but was sometimes able to get through with one or two big shots. I'm not sure if Ortiz at this point has the explosiveness or sharpness to make those windows of opportunity count though.

I had Povetkin winning. Hunter punched himself out and won a lot of the early rounds (like three out of the first six), but Hunter should have had a KD called in R5 and he straight up fell down out of exhaustion in R12 while letting Povetkin hit him at will for the rest of the round. Hunter did land a decent amount more jabs, but if you look at punch stats after the first six he often gave up power punches for jabs.

I agree Ortiz is just more consistent with his defence being more defensive in general and not exposing himself to shots as much as Whyte does.

The scenario you laid out in your previous post I agree with also, it's how I could see Whyte winning. If the Whyte that beat Chisora in the rematch shows up, one that doesn't just jump on Ortiz first he hurts him like he did vs Povetkin could very well win a decision or even see a late stoppage vs a tired Ortiz, who I think faded both times vs Wilder. But he does make mistakes and Ortiz is far more prepared to exploit them than Chisora, Ortiz could end the fight at any time, so I still favour him but would not shock me at all if Whyte beat him, he has the tools to do so, but perhaps not the self discipline and focus in the ring to do so.

There was also a time when Hunter was held up by the ropes and should have been called a knockdown. I had Povetkin winning that fight also but it was very close and a great fight for the fans.

Ortiz is a 6 round fighter these days. As Wilder 1 and Wilder 2 proved, unless he stops you before then...he really has nothing left after 6 rounds.

I predict Whyte stoppage between rounds 9-10

I think Whyte will compose a game plan with this in mind too.
