I think Wilder probably beats anyone in the division bar Usyk, Joshua and Fury. I know you disagree so there’s no point debating that but that’s my view. I think, despite his lack of fundamentals, his power is a real equaliser.
Come offit! Who was ever going to turn down $80 Mill? And where is AJ's next fight taking place? Remind me how many times Tyson has sold out that arena by himself? I'll wait.
He's been a road warrior cos he's had to be. Klitschko was a huge name especially in Eastern Europe. He had to go to America because Wilder was the A-side being the champ with the broadcaster/promoter behind him over there and Fury coming out of the wilderness. I'm not interested in who's more popular. Couldn't care less if someone could sell out a stadium or struggled to sell out a small hall. It's clear that Joshua pulls in a bigger audience but it doesn't determine who is the better fighter. We'll only find out who that is if they fight a couple of times.
It doesn't really matter - he went there and won. It's a really impressive achievement whether you like Fury or not. Joshua beating Klitschko, as @Twentyman detailed very nicely above, is also a really impressive achievement. It's fine to give both fighters credit - there's no requirement to pick and choose. Fury is with Top Rank and ESPN now so he's basically required to fight in the US as a result of that. They'd have no interest in him fighting in the UK. I have no doubt that he could've sold really well at Old Trafford or Wembley for Wilder 2 for example. He's hamstrung by his deal in that regard. Pre-comeback he wasn't very popular at all, now he is.
I went to O2 world in Hamburg in 2014 and watched Wladimir batter Pudding Pulev all over the arena - not competitive at all for the 5 rounds. The talk was how on earth could such a poor opponent get a shot at the World Title. Joshua defeating said pudding 6 years later is embarrassing as the fight was a 100/0 fight in his favour. No danger at all and simply the rankings getting in the way of decent fights 6 years later. Pulev was born a pudding and will die a pudding regardless of ranking.
No shame in losing to a prime ATG Wlad. Pulev resume is still as good if not better tha champions such as Liakhovich, Stiverne, Wilder and Martin. Better than challengers such as spzilka, Duhaupas, Washington, Arreola, Jennings, Ortiz,Wach, Chambers, Thompson, Austin, Brock Peters, Brezeale and Molina. So there have been worse champions let alone many much worse contenders the past couple decades.
The division has been rotten for years mate - Pudding Pulev getting TWO shots says it all. There are no excuses left for Fury, Joshua, Wider to avoid facing each other and/or live new contenders such as Usyk and Joyce. Whyte is a pudding but also deserves a shot just for the comedy. Hopefully Usyk getting his shot is the start of better days in the division.
It doesn't matter if he's crap. He's "top 10", the Joshua fanboys will say. The next day they will lament the fact that there is no depth in the division. Contradictions galore. I don't know why these people don't just wait for the bout to happen. I don't know who would win out of Joshua or Fury, but Fury has the better wins without a doubt. Joshua has camped out on glossy Matchroom cards and Sky marketing that has made people believe that he's better than he is. He simply cannot be that good if he's been absolutely clobbered by a small fat man. Fury, Wilder, Joshua, Usyk, Joyce and even Whyte should all compete against one another. Fury, to me, doesn't look right and he might lose to Wilder. He doesn't look as healthy or motivated as he did in the last bout. Wilder could beat him. Joshua fans have got some cheek ripping into Wilder and using the fact Fury beat him as a drum to beat him with. It was Fury who beat Wilder, not Joshua. I would not bet against Joshua doing a very funny dance against Wilder.
Credit for Fury beating Wlad 12 months later or do we just get talks of resumes? Fury beats Wilder - means Wilder’s crap Ruiz beats Joshua - means Ruiz is world class
The inconsistencies are hilarious. Good points. I don't even give Fury as much credit for beating Klitschko. Klitschko, to me, is overrated. He's very good, but he was clobbered by several mediocre opponents and then dined out on useless opposition for a whole decade and avoided his biggest rival because he was his brother. He also had everything his own way with arenas and contracts, and everything else imaginable such as anti-doping. However, Fury beat a better version and he beat him more decisively. He also beat him in Germany. And good point regarding Pulev. I remember after Klitschko beat Pulev many were saying this is the best version we have ever seen of Klitschko.
Of course, I'm full of praise for Fury wins against Wlad. I'm just notnonvinced he is anywhere near that standard he was pre retirement, food and coke binge. If Fury beats a quality proven HW then I'll hold my hands and admit i was wrong but untill then I remain unconvinced.
