You can apply that school of thought to anyone who has been caught by VADA (it was UKAD that popped him anyway) though, it's not a useful defence. I was certainly surprised but everyone noted how Whyte had improved over his last few fights and in that context it becomes a little less surprising.

This will have a Fury's type of multi year back and forth where eventually he'll receive a 2 year backdated ban that has been "served" by that time.
I wonder if the Rivas fight will be overturned, and the thing I'm doubting that says enough about boxing.

Has there been any word from the Rivas team?

This is a recurring offense. Totally unacceptable. At least a 2-year ban is required. How come VADA could not detect this? Their practices should be looked into as well.

There are hardly any other heavies on VADA 365 voluntarily paying out of their own pocket

So no it is not the same thing... when the got popped its because they had no choice but to sign on via a governing body

And he wasnt making ‘those’ kind of improvements you are alluding too... Whyte was consistent with his physical performance everyone always noting that he gasses so easily... the improvements he made where technical in nature very apparent through his jab and defence..

Whereas Miller was never gassing at 320 pounds and many suspected that and alluded to it.. that was a physiological change rather than a technical change

SO UNLESS you are saying that taking PEDs gives you a better jab.... that post is weak and dishonest from you Paddy

You are much smarter than that

I haven't been following the situation too closely, but if Whyte was found guilty of having dianabol metabolites in his blood then there's very little doubt that he deliberately took steroids since (correct me if I'm wrong) those metabolites can't occur naturally in any quantity. Anyway, looks like he's going to receive a lengthy ban, and hopefully further action is taken over UKAD's decision to (so it seems) cover up this whole situation. Hearn will likely get indicted too. This could prove to be very serious for everyone involved.

It usually depends on when the test was taken, what was tested (blood/urine) and what it was tested for.
If VADA tests you, and after that you take a steroid, it won't pop up on the VADA test of course. But if you get tested by even a remotely decent other agency the very next day, you can bet your ass you get caught.
If on the other hand it takes a day or 2 before getting tested again, then uou probably don't pop dirty.

It's increasingly looking like that, yeah. There was a leak somewhere and Whyte's failed result was brought out into the open. If that's truly the case I hope there's a massive investigation and a massive shakeup of what looks like an endemically corrupt series of institutions.

Why are you only limiting this to HW's? Do you have a list of who does and doesn't pay out of their own pocket? Fighters have signed up to the testing - regardless of who is paying - and then still popped dirty. Whyte isn't some special case.

His jab and defence held up better later in the fights against Rivas and Chisora than they had in previous fights, so there actually is an argument there that his body tired less than it historically had proven to do so or was significantly stronger at least. So yeah, there is something to that actually.

It's academical anyway, he popped dirty and the things he popped for can't be covered up with the nasal spray BS like Saunders used. Or tried to at least. That was also swept under the carpet somewhat.

    That's the essence of it.

Rivas is obviously on a ton of gear too. He just wasn't stupid enough to get caught with an ice-age era oral PED so good on him for that.

Yeah, they'll likely make him a scapegoat to cover their own ass. Personally I hope that more than just one head rolls. I wanna see some suits go down.

Let's see if Eddie can work his magic and get Whyte out of this one. Whyte will most likely release a statement today saying about the supplements lol

The Aydamn meltdown on these forums is more spectacular than the Whyte-Rivas fight, that's for sure.
