A prospect is somebody who might go on to win a major belt. Martin is the current IBF HW champ how is that a prospect.

I didn't get why people thought Whyte had a chance beyond landing a lucky punch and even when he did do that it wasn't enough. He has a decent jab and power but he's sloppy and his lack of conditioning was very apparent.

Personally I think he'll end being a gate keeper level fighter, he simply lacks the skills and discipline needed to succeed.

 

I'm not entirely sold on Whyte although the Joshua fight showed us a bit more in terms of his potential. I guess it is a test of his character now to see how he rebounds from the Joshua defeat, however, that being said he is no World beater.

 

He is a prospect that somehow made his way into a titlefight for a vacant belt and won due to his opponent getting injured.

His best win before Glazkov was either Tom frickin' Dallas or Zumbano Love. He wasn't even fighting real top100 opponents yet!

 

Too many questions after the AJ defeat to know where he will end up. At the moment im guessing Euro level. He was in poor shape for the AJ fight so that's something obvious he needs to work on but he was competitive against a guy billed as the next best thing.

 

I think you are basing his status as champion a bit too literally. He is still unproven in many regards and he attained the belt following an injury, albeit in a fight he was unspectacularly winning. It is fair to say he is still a prospect - having the IBF strap doesn't just magically transform Martin.

 

At this point i think this is his best comparison, Whyte is far from some journeymen but at the same time at this point not world class at all Hes similar to chisoroa is the sense that you could stick him in with any top 5 heavyweight and not be surprised to see him in a competitive fight though.

Whyte vs chisora would be the perfect match up for him right now.

 

Whyte for all his flaws exposed Joshua even though his poor conditioning meant he couldn't capitalise. Jumbo Cummings rocked Bruno to his boots, and a few fights later Bruno was stopped by the unfancied Jim Smith. I see comparisons.

Looks like Dilian Whyte looks more impressive taking out the journeymen than Joseph Parker is.

He had the ***** for fighting Anthony Joshua instead of being doing the American route of having a 30-0 bum record, or the Kiwi privileges of fighting nobodies to get national and regional titles.

 

Who did Fury beat before he got Klitschko? Which world beaters? Beat Klitschko in a performance that even Mayweather would be ashamed of.

Wilder beat Stiverne but who did he beat before and after.

Martin has a strap and potentially could have beat the same opponents as Wilder and Fury.

 

the fact that those guys (neither top100) are his best scalps though, while Parker went trough that + a shot Botha in his first 12 fights, says more imo.

 

Beating a shot Botha says absolutely nothing. Going 7 rounds with Joshua, hurting him and making it competitive is the best thing either of these guys have done.

 

Having the belt and winning in the way he did and getting the opportunity to fight for the belt may have been fortuitous but compared to the other belt holders, wilder and Fury he is in the same company in terms of achievement.

Is he still learning? Yeah but be has achieved his goal, there's plenty of boxers who will never be as successful.
