Agreed, but all that chipping away has actually achieved something... you know Sulaiman is living under death threats now. He is under enormous pressure over the Whyte situation, and Whyte has just raised awareness over the unfair treatment of giving him a title shot.

So it helps Whyte... and yeah Rivas found a way to step up the gear and that's excellent for Whyte, shows that he is taking on credible opponents, not ***** tune up fights, and that it is going to be a great fight/matchup. Whyte continues to challenge himself, and it is only when you fight the best continuously, that you become the best...molded by pressure.

Losing is also part of the game. Should it be PPV? Probably not... but no one can doubt that it will be exciting as it has been in the past on the Whyte vs Parker card, then people got their monies worth back then.... but say "Oh it was luck it turned out that way"... well you got price, allen, szpilka, chisora all the right ingredients for a fun night of boxing, for 20 pounds once every how many months?

Beyond all the politics of it, something that bothers me about the whole Dillian Whyte phenomenon is that somewhere along the line getting his shot at Deontay Wilder's WBC belt took precedence over getting a shot at Joshua's WBA/WBO/IBF belts and the chance of revenge against Joshua that he was originally apparently so determined to do.

Whyte was talking about having a 3 fight series with Joshua at one point, soon after the first fight, and how they were destined to be bitter rivals.
Clearly and obviously the Joshua rematch has always been the more logical and less difficult fight to arrange.

Whyte's obssession with Wilder supplanted his obssession with Joshua long before Joshua lost his belts, to the point where Whyte was unwilling to accept a £6 million purse for the Joshua fight and unwilling to "concede" a 50-50 split in a rematch if he got past Joshua. Which is entirely up to him, but it baffles me when he was previously determined to smash Joshua up as soon as possible, and twice preferably, and considering the distinct likelihood that the WBC and Haymon will continue to freeze him out of Wilder's agenda.
Meanwhile, he's lucky to be given PPVs (that may or may not be success) against risky unknowns like Rivas, an operation that runs the double risk of possibly losing badly and the risk of bombing out in terms of market value.

Maybe Whyte has some sort of master plan I can't quite figure out.

Just a picture of an old dillian “still waiting for my mandatory” tweeted by sky sports.

Funnily enough the first reply was off an ex poster on here the boxing mad man.

Yeah, could be, but it's a risky strategy though at this point.
He's had a good run at it though, to be fair.

That all depends on who's holding the belts and who is the possible mandatorys.
Anyone with Haymon will get an easy ride with the wbc.
