Whyte was as cautious as he ever was/is. The right punch, at the right time, landing in exactly the right place.

Sometimes you just got to give props to the other guy.

To be fair to Tyson, he was already champion at an age when Povetkin hadn't even turned pro and by the time Povetkin won his first title Tyson was already past his best and been a 2 time champion. Maybe if Povetkin had been fighting at world level in his early 20's he wouldn't be the same fighter he is now.

Well, at least we agree it was a good fight.

And the HW division is special.

Surely, by taking the rematch he's already taking the risk.

This is a man who's just knocked him out cold, before his body hit the floor.

It's the biggest risk he can take.

Looking back rather quickly, I will have to watch it again, but Whytes corner were telling him "put your weight on your back foot", Also jab, don't rush, take your time.

Whyte scored two knockdowns, the first looked like a flash knockdown, Povetkin looked stunned but not overly hurt, his eyes looked clear and he was fully aware of where he was.

The second knockdown was a little heavier but Povetkin wasn't out on his feet. He just looked a little tired but sometimes he does, so I wasn't sure what he had left.

But I was sitting here thinking between rounds that Whyte still has to be careful, Whytes corner were no doubt telling him the same.

It wasn't as if Whyte got overly lazy but he didn't look particularly sharp as he came out for the round, maybe he thought it was over and it was but not how he thought it was over but it was a superb shot from Povetkin, a real fight winning shot, I don't think many heavyweight get up after being hit like that.

Whyte will have to take the rematch, he has no choice, but I'm not sure he comes through it.

Special doesn't cover it mate. The drama you get from just one punch in the division, fight in fight out, its insane.

Even boring HW fights, when live, have that tension and drama because you know one punch can change everything.

Whyte's chin might not be the same after that brutal KO, one caveat.

The good news is we might just get AJ v fury sooner

Povetkin will have his rematch with the lump in the meantime

That's an old, washed up povekin

Prime Povetkin would have bossed him, but still he got the job done

I always said dillian is at best, a chisora level fighter

Deontay even with his limited skill would have him in a coma

    F.. K Whyte the loudmouth

Tyson was more skilled but the hooking combos Povetkin landed on AJ were just like Tyson`s, both great counter hookers.

Wow rematch and rematch clause for a non-title fight, this is a utter b.c.
And there was a such a big talk how Dilian Whyte put his mandatory status on the cards, how he is taking huge risks(which is true he fight solid boxers), and how if Povetkin won all will turn and Povetkin will challenge for the title, and now this slime little ...... talk about rematch ....
    This is a complete joke.
I really don`t see why Povetkin will agree to rematch being 40(he will be 41 at the time rematch take place, even older).
    This is nonseses.
No one wants to see a rematch. Povetkin deserve his title shot against Fury/Wilder or even against Joshua again.

The fight was not one sided also. I don`t know what some of here people were watching. Yeah Whyte jab was working, but was very few jabs landed, not a constant jab that send his opponent back and to bring the pressure to Povetkin. It was Povetkin all night, except for the 4th with the KD.
Also every single body shot from Whyte was pretty much low blow, and not a single warning for him - disgrace !!!

But Povetkin was competing in other combat sports and amateur boxing when at the same age Mike Tyson first won his title. Amateur boxing can take as much, if not more out of you, considering the volume of fights a fighter has to compete in, with minimal rest periods in between. I think Povetkin would be just fine to be honest, he objectively has more heart and courage than Mike Tyson. Mike Tyson would crumble where Povetkin would continue fighting. That's what separates them IMO.

Mike Tyson is flashier and more eye-catchy. But Povetkin is just as effective with his attacks.
