I had to mute the commentary, it was pure feces.

Just whenever I tune in to British boxing and a Brit is fighting. Pretty standard. The commentators know that their audience is cheering for the British fighter and want to keep them happy.

Surprised so many on here gave Povetkin 2 and 3. I had him winning 1 but Whyte clear in 2 and 3.

Yup, the commentary was disgusting by the disgusting Sky team as usual. There was definitely a case for Povetkin winning all of the first 3 (I had Povetkin winning the first 2 with Whyte JUST winning the 3rd).

I'm still celebrating the win tbh.

@Aydamn is probably passed out in the drunk tank right now. In a few hours he will wake up with a severe hangover and feelings of melancholy and despair on top of it.

    A proper one hitter quitter.

Taylor fight. I'm going to watch it back today but my initial feeling was that Taylor looked brilliant the first two rounds - couple of punches and box/slip/move. 3rd round she got caught, all the energy was gone and she decided to trade. Lost almost every round after that. Better quality shots and still moments of brilliance but no where near enough. You can land 10 beautiful, textbook, artwork inspired shots but if you're being hit 20 times back (even if they miss 80 of them to land them) AND being dominated around the ring, you should lose.

    Why did she change tack?

We have a guy in our amatuer team in the club that is apparently very similar. Beautiful boxer but cant resist a war. He'd stand and trade with a prime Mike Tyson if he could, yet he can move like Sweatpea.

    On Whyte/Povetkin

Exposed is not the correct word because he was/ has never pretended to be anything different. Whyte is not a boxer. Hes typical of "the" heavyweight division in that he is a tank with some big shots and big armour. Which is enough to get you by, for the most part. Chisora 2 and Parker were fights saved by these abilities, rather than skill.

Problem is that when you meet someone who has these attributes AND can box, you're always going to be in trouble as their ability to actually hit you with a trouble shot increases. Povetkin was doing OK first 3 rounds (although I wasnt scoring) and Whyte was sticking to his game plan - get him tired, wear him down, finish him late. He didnt go in for the kill in the 4th. It was a sensible and mature way to deal with a good, but ageing, fighter.

    Then bang, out of nowhere.

Perfect shot, perfect place. One in a million.

Even landed perfect across the chin twisting his neck, instant brain shut down. If it landed flush on the forehead, on the face, under the jaw - no doubt that Whyte would have been hurt. Maybe even counted out. But to twist the head like that was instant lights out.

I wont get tired of watching it - it was just so out of the blue.

Has no choice. If he doesn’t he loses the mandatory permanently and goes to the back of the queue.

Similar to AJ vs Ruiz. Needs to take the fight and try to outbox him for 12 rounds

    Course he has a choice.

Hopefully he's willing to take the risk and go in there again against Pov.

    Ofcourse he has a choice.

but he loses everything if he doesn’t. His career is on the line and therefore he has no choice but to take the rematch

Dillian was clearly just going after the body without really mixing it up at that point, that's what probably opened him up for the coolest uppercut in existence.

Exactly, he deserves props if he goes through with the rematch imo.
