He won a split decision over professional sparring partner opponent and professional loser Jerry Forrest.

We know his level. I thought he beat Zhang but was robbed on the cards, Zhang being not even top 50 on that performance.

Forrest is someone who will turn up and lose. He might have a go, but he is there to lose.

I actually think Whyte deserves an easy win and he needs it as his punch resistance looks suspect recently.

Whyte has been fighting nothing but killers, so he deserves a little step down.

I dont think Franklin is a bum but hes a step down from the list of guys Whyte has been fighting

Trevor Bryan wouldn’t have been a bad opponent after all. Anyway, hopefully Ortiz ve Ruiz gets made in the mean time and winners of both fights can square off to finally decide who gets a crack at the green belt once the Fury/Wilder soup opera is over.

How do you think Zhang lost? He outlanded Forrest in five rounds and dropped him three times, in a ten round fight. Even if you only give him the first four, he should be up on the scorecards.

A cream puff for Whyte. Why even bother fighting? What does Whyte gain?

He’s not. It’s not been mandated yet and Don King has made it clear that millions will be needed for that fight which Frank Warren won’t be putting up.
The fight gets made when WBA eventually order it to purse bids. But judging how that belt has played out the last 5 years it could be a decade before that happens.

they would be better off making Bryan the AJ mandatory and just losing the belt altogether

Pavel Sour is one of the biggest prospects in world boxing - he is much improved recently. He is a stunning talent.

Why? So everyone can turn round and say he fought another old man? I'd love to see the fight don't get me wrong but it's lose lose for him.
