Parker should win. Hell he shouldn't've lost in the first. That said I wouldn't be surprised if he won 9-3 and the judges gave it to Whyte.
If Parker can get past Whyte's jab he's in with a great chance, but he can't let Whyte bully him around like last time. Some interesting rematches for Parker right now actually. Whyte, Ruiz and Joshua would all potentially be different affairs second time out.
Parker's performance yesterday was nothing special but it was an improvement on the shocking display we saw against Chisora the first time. I liked how he was using his extra weight to push Chisora onto the ropes and lean on him, which is what Whyte was doing to Parker when they fought. If he can mix in a few more low blows and rabbit punches he'll be going places. Parker seemed to be hitting a bit harder, though part of this was Chisora's deteriorating punch resistance. In any case, the version of Parker we saw yesterday would probably stop Whyte, who has taken massive punishment at 34 and never had Chisora's chin to begin with. In the absence of the concussive headbutt KD Parker may well have won the first time, though knowing Parker he would have still found a way to blow it.
Parker needs to knock Whyte out, and even then it wouldn't be a certainty that he'd get a fair shake from the British officials: they'd probably try to have the official verdict changed a a No Contest or something. And people thought overseas fighters trying to win a decision in Germany in the 1990's had their work cut out.
I think the extra bulk will help there, with a bit more conditioning he should be okay. I'm leaning toward Parker by KO. I really liked what I saw yesterday, and Whyte doesn't have the chin or wherewithal on defence of Chisora.
i thought whyte won the first fight quite clearly and was shocked at all the calls of robbery or disagreement with the decision parker did nearly stop whyte and i have never been that high on whytes punch resistance and parker was pretty dangerous last night as he rocked chisora a lot but just didnt know what to do with it. whyte could always get caught and parker could always work on finishing i just suspect that whyte is the better fighter with more to offer but this is a tough one to call
Whyte has the judges on his side, which is a rather large edge to have. So unless Parker KO's him, hard to see him winning. Also, Parker would need to KO him twice in a row to get the win. Seems people have forgotten the Povetkin affair.
If there's no rematch clause in the contract, I'll be keen to see Parker beat Whyte. Whyte fouled throughout the first match and without the headbutt knockdown, should have lost - at best, a draw. The UK scoring has gone beyond the point of corruption. Not to mention Parker being fouled over and over by Chisora in the weekend, only to be warned himself! I've always praised Eddie Hearn for making the big fights, but if you have to 1. Beat the man 2. Beat the judges 3. Beat the man again in the rematch 4. Beat the judges again in the rematch - you've got so much going against you. Unless Parker stops Whyte, he would be shafted, just like Eddie tried to do in the weekend.
Same here because they ruled the headbutt a knock down. Different story if that had been ruled correctly - then a draw or JP nicking it comes into play.
I cannot comprehend why Eddie would shaft Parker that way Parker is signed with Hearn - and one of his best bets at the titles if AJ loses.
Aside from scoring an admittedly beautiful knock down a lot of Whyte’s ‘bullying’ Parker in the first fight basically amounted to pushing, holding, fouling etc, all while the crowd roared and the commentators blamed Parker for it. None of that stuff is supposed to count in scoring a boxing match though, and I question whether Whyte was ever really dominant in that fight like people make out.
Exactly. Whyte was hanging on for dear life at the end of the 12th and refused a rematch. Kinda tells you all you need to know.
