What did people expect from Lucas Browne? he was a decade older than Whyte, hasn't been in the ring for 2 years, he had a Homer Simpson-esque physique tonight. What the hell was he thinking?? was he just there for the Paycheck? I thought this guy seriously wanted to defeat Whyte??

Whyte got hit a lot too, looked very off balanced the whole fight, lots of wild WILDER-ISH swinging... If he faces Wilder, I could totally see them trying to WINDMILL each other and both fall from being off balanced

Whyte didn't get hit whatsoever, he always looks off balance and he often swings wildly to land that big punch but he knows when to. Whyte is an underrated fighter and the pre-fight polls were like 55% - 45% in favor of Browne, now everyone is trying to discredit Whyte

Eh, Browne probably wasn't tip top, but he's two years removed from beating a top 10 hw. Full credit to Whyte, he's proved he's a top 10 hw himself now.

I didn't mean to discredit Whyte... I think it had nothing to do with Whyte, rather how out-of-shape Lucas looked. I think all the people who were going for Browne had no idea he was gonna be rocking a 44" WAIST lol

Disappointment in Browne is my main takeaway. Second that Whyte has improved and is improving. But I just don't see him winning a belt unless it's that wba trinket that Browne had for five minutes.

Inactivity and age got to Browne. Time for him to hang up the gloves. What amazes me is people somehow expected more from Browne. He has never been a skilled boxer, he admits himself, was never going to outbox Whyte, he admitted himself, and could only win by knockout, which he admitted himself. Lucas Browne has always been a very good, strong KO puncher, that was his appeal. A lot of his fights he was cut, bloodied and beat up, as tonight, but kept coming back with stunning KO wins. Nothing lasts forever, and at 39, his size, and his age, it was an amazing run in the pro game for a guy who was simply a tough guy/bouncer who only started boxing at 31. Time to hang up the gloves, put his feet up and become a celebrity doorman at a fancy gentleman's club.

In the league I went for the KO of Browne cause I needed to risk. Since the first second of the fight i was absolutely sure for two things: the fight won't last long; Browne was doomed to loose.
Browne was out of the ring way to muuch, also he had like 0 defence. He looked like the fight with Chagaev was 10 years ago. He needs to retire... There is no point of him being hurt like this.
About Whyte... For me this guy is the top10 gatekeeper. If you are able to beat him , you deserve your spot among the best. He looked super sloppy against Helenius ( which is a different topic , he lost against a journeyman ; it was the worst robbery ever ); Also some people thought his win against Chisora was gifted. So I am pretty sure Joshua, Povetkin, Wilder, Ortiz, Parker and Pulev all beat Whyte. It would be fun to see him against someone on his level like Miller, Breazeale, Takam, Kownacki or Ruiz Jr. Looking at the boxrec rankings right now, it is maybe the first time in a while that I can agree with the HW rankigs in top10.

Agree, sometimes it's hard to hang them up when you have a family, and no other source of income. All the best to Browne, he def needs to retire, that punch could have been a life changing brain damage punch

Difference is prob for the first time in his career he had to be drug free . Came in fat and slow instead of a gilled up monster

That he didn't start boxing until 31, two years older than 29 y/o Whyte, has to be kept in mind. He should hang up I agree but cash is king with most of these guys.

I expected Whyte to outwork Brown to a decision.

I didn't expect much from Browne. He has always looked slow and lacking skill. I knew his age and I knew he had been inactive.

I think many of the people who picked Browne did so because

    a) Chisora has struggled/looked unimpressive too
    b) Personal like/dislike of the fighters based on non-boxing related reasons
    c) Just repeating/going along with what others say.

I never believed Browne deserved to be in the top ten. He was fortunate to land a bomb against Chageav. His plodding style makes Marciano look like Willie Pep. Whyte fought well and had an easy time executing his game plan.

Actually, I picked Browne because of his past performances, I knew Whyte was going to outbox him, beat on him, but Browne usually lands 1 good punch and comes firing back.
