I have to go with Browne purely because, IMO, Chagaev is far better than anyone Whyte has fought, yes including the fake champ AJ. Chagaev is a hard act to beat, maybe Browne got lucky etc but Chagaev usually doesn't come to lie down. Whyte & AJ was a farce & AJ won(Lol) the title from a walking corpse & the Klitchko fight was lost by Vlad, not won by AJ...Browne does it!
You didnt think Browne won any rounds in his title win against Chagaev? I had Browne winning 4 rounds before the stoppage after rewatching the fight several times at the very worst he won 3 imo, even the dodgy officials had all given him 1-2 rounds. All things considered it wasnt a bad performance from Browne who was clearly up against it from the start in the extremely hostile conditions and with dodgy officials. Including corrupt time keeping starting in the 6th round when Browne had been knocked down they extended the time by at least 15 seconds then the 7th round was shortened the round time by 44 seconds LOL just as Browne was starting to come back and cause damage against Chagaev .
Seriously was spectacularly dodgy officiating, that fight - I heard about the "long round" and went and checked it for myself expecting it to be people just assuming it and making up numbers but no... very very blatent and substantially stretched past. REALLY didn't come across like a mistake
I only need to see the 1st minute of the Whyte vs Chisora fight to know that when Big Daddy starts throwing, Whyte will lose all form brawling back, and Browne KOs him.
Browne always ready and willing to dig deep and will always find a way to win He's undefeated for a reason. I think we are in for a treat with this fight. I don't rate Whyte that highly but he has heart in the ring and its difficult to find any quit in him.
Yes it was disgraceful and went a long way in showing the world just how easy it is to have a fight fixed in one fighters favor, even in this day and age. Some naively believe that level of corruption is confined to the past. I beg to differ that the shadow mafia are still as strong in their grips on the sport as ever
Agree 100%, Stiverne being a mandatory and taking a belly flop in the 1st is a disgrace to boxing, would have made a lot of money on illegal betting for those in the know... cough..cough.., Suilaman, Haymon, DiBella, King... cough..cough.. De La Hoya always having one judge in his back pocket, Europeans and Russians always spiking fighters, the sooner boxing moves towards a single UFC style format and away from rival promoters the better.
Browne is simply a much better fighter and the odds either favor Whyte. This is an oddsmakers mispricing like Eubank Jr/Groves and an opportunity to earn some money.
Whyte’s last few performances have been really poor! Not only does he need to beat Browne but he also needs to try and look good doing it. I can see him getting frustrated trying to force it and then walking on to something big from Browne He’s a warrior though and should be able to grind out a win, Browne is getting on and whytes youth, work rate and chin will give him the edge
Precisely Boxing is in dire need to change it's outdated archaic corruptible format. As Teddy Atlas has pressed on, the problem is there is a no oversight. The sanctioning bodies, promotors are governing themselves and no independent panel or board of control is overseeing that everything remains above board. They buried the issue with that judge's scorecard under the carpet and now it's hardly an issue with anyone. Judge will cover another fight and boxing goes on without any kind of disciplinary or investigation. The incident in the Browne vs Chageav fight and the aftermath regarding the spiking test results, should have been investigated independently by the authorities with someone being brought to justice. Boxing likes to pride itselt on ensuring that they have all the measures and precautions in place to protect a f fighter's health, yet we are seeing situations where a fighter is having to fight two men in the ring. Lucas could have got brain damage in the round which they extended so Chag could have more time to land more blows when he was stunned. And then you have referee's looking for any kind of sign and opportunity to stop the fight in favor of a fighter. People's career's are getting ruined due to this level of corruption. This is why Joseph Parker has to be careful when he comes to the uk and likewise Brown, because the promoters over here have taken a big leaf out of those in the states where this kind of nonsense was birthed.
Browne mid-rounds stoppage. Whyte isn't as durable as he seemed against Joshua, being hurt against Chisora and Helenius since. Browne hits harder than Chisora and unlike Helenius will keep the pressure coming. Browne isn't the most durable but Whyte doesn't hit hard enough imo. Neither are particularly skilful so it should come down to the fact that Browne hits significantly harder.
I really don't know who will win this fight, but for some reason I feel, a gut feeling, that Brown might win this one, not my brain, just a gut feeling. Would not bet on this fight, not one penny!
Call me crazy, but im one of the few people who stand by Ortiz, Povetkin and Browne 100%. Ortiz was set up to fail, it was only blood pressure medication he'd been on for years, and had used VADA for years. Povetkin was 100% honest about his use of Meldonium, when it was 100% legal, and Browne was a 100% spiking set up. When people jump up and down and call these guys drugs cheats, when the opponents they face have all been in the same situation, bar Parker, I just shake my head at the state of boxing. Needs to simply one world boxing organization with full oversight and checks and balances, the current system is a cancer on the sport.
