I'm not 100% confident in Ortiz as this was his first loss and he's pretty old. He might be lacking in terms of motivation going forward. Still, I'll say Ortiz by KO.
The Wilder loss was no shocking loss for Kong, he already said after the fight that he will come back, stronger and hungrier, maybe only words, but he is a guy who is fighting for his family and his life, so prob more than just words, he is no showman who enjoys paying at the night club at the weekend with a big bunch of dollars to impress some chicks. He is a warrior. And he looked pretty good vs Wilder, let's be clear here: He outboxed Wilder and was knocking the **** out of Wilder, one of the best HWs out there. Even at 38 years old he is the real #3 in HWD and will proove it if he gets the chance to fight Whyte. Kong via KO in the late rounds.
Ortiz KO 6-9. King Kong doesn't hit as hard as previously advertised now he's off the gear but Whyte's chin isn't quite as good as many claim either. Ortiz will have no trouble chipping away at Whyte and eventually stopping him, probably by uppercut.
Hungrier? King Kong already has a superhuman appetite - he could probably eat his way through a fully stocked McDonalds. If he is still motivated he should be able to handle Whyte. I still have lingering doubts about his fight with Wilder. I don't know why exactly.
Interesting matchup... I dont count Whyte out especially for a close controversial decision but Ill go Ortiz by UD or SD.
Ortiz is the more skilled boxer and has the power advantage so l give him the edge. But l wouldn't count out Whyte pulling off the upset. Ortiz is at that age where he could look old overnight and l can see Whyte's speed and youth being the decider.
Is Whyte that fast? He looked very fast compared to Lucas Browne but i think even Donnie Palmer would look like a Top 10 HW in all aspects vs Lucas Browne. Whyte is a bit overrated due to his win vs Browne imo. He is a featherfist for a HW, his hands aren't that fast and he isn't that quick on his feet. Imo Ortiz is better in all aspects. He might be old and not as fast as he was 3, 4 or 5 years ago but if you rewatch the Wilder fight you can see that he has not to be fast on his feet because he has a genious ring iq and is moving smart and intelligent around his opponent and look at those attacks he started, he is definitely fast enough. Of course age is a factor but if we take into account how Ortiz looked vs Wilder we definitely can say that Ortiz isn't as sharp as he was couple of years ago but still sharp enough to be the legit #3 in HWD. If he would have the same shape as 3-5 years ago he would have destroyed Wilder and also would be a real threat to AJ.
Well, for a 60 year old boxer Ortiz does OK. Actually, seriously, Ortiz' cousin in Cuba swears Ortiz is 58 years old, so do some others. I think he more like 49........................
Agree on Whyte's speed, did he look fast vs Chisora? And no one can name Chirora a fast fighter. Shot Helenius and shot Browne are slow like hell, so even 50 y.o. George Foreman would've looked fast against them.
I think this goes the distance and I would lean towards Whyte based on work rate, particularly in the later rounds when Ortiz will fade.
I think Whyte will win if this fight takes place. Right now I pick Whyte by KO, I may change my pick to UD as fight gets closer. Whyte has angles to his head movement and he is sneaky counter puncher who waits for his chance, similar to Ortiz but more unpredictable than Ortiz is.
