I'll agree with you on one thing. It shouldn't happen for Whyte because its a lose-lose for Whyte, it wouldn't prove anything if he won, and he can make more money and achieve a better legacy by fighting more proven fighters than Itauma. I would be shocked if Itauma's management even asked for it ATM.
Whyte getting sparked by Povetkin didn't necessarily tell us a lot because Pov could bang at world level - and it was a perfectly timed punch, a true beauty. But Dillian's punch resistance clearly took a big knock from that fight - getting stopped by Fury isn't something that normally happens to "tough as old boots" fighters... It's a question mark. That said... Itauma has some decent power already, stopping Wach at all shows that, but it's also harder to hurt someone pretty durable who's going be aggressive right back at you. The big question mark is how much has Whyte declined - and unless it's quite a bit more than I think it is, he still has too much for a green prospect.
I don`t think Whyte is better than Hrg, he looed fat and slow in his last fight and isn`t getting any younger, plus he`s a PED cheat.
What if Moses catches him before he connects though? Moses is twice as fast as Whyte, he was completely out of shape in his last fight.
When did Whyte prove he wa durable? Anyone that has lasted the distance with AJ, Fury or Povetkin has a better chin than Whyte.
That`s a good point but I don`t think winning olmpic bronze in boxing is impressive at all, even Wilder got a bronze at the olympics.
Incredible? Whyte has never been an incredible fighter and has looked far from incredible in the last 5 years, incredible is a bit of a stretch and Moses may start the fight as betting favourite, the odds will be close one way or another.
What if Dillian catches him first? What if Dillian Whyte can take the early barrage and wear down Itauma gradually such as the Dubois V Joyce fight? Itauma does look talented yes, but remember there are levels to this ATM, we are going from a good journeyman at best in McKean to a very experienced if weak contender here in Whyte who still has a few more fights left in him. If Itauma had already beaten someone that was at least even just a solid gatekeeper, such as Joyce or Miller, or even Hughie then we could talk but its just far too early for this. McKean is honestly ass.
I agree Whyte isn't incredible he is a weak contender but he is still probably top 10 and is a very dangerous and experienced fighter with a few fights left in him. Betting odds will be very very interesting for this. I think the bookies will have it all mixed up over the place, I think it will be 10/11 to both fighters.
