I've always regarded Lucas Browne as 'club fighter' level. He managed a KO of a shot Chagaev while behind on points, and that's it. He was never a real contender. Chisora's nothing special but he's fought at a much higher level than Browne.
Only in boxing fan logic can a technique which results in the specific outcome it was designed to achieve, be seen as some kind of strange quirk of fate. Not every Ronaldo free kick ends up nestling in the top corner, but when it does happen it isn’t dismissed as luck. Bayern tearing the Barca defence to shreds was first and foremost clownshoes defending, with a bit of superlative attacking thrown in. The unforeseen intervention of the Germanic gods of goalfeasts was way down the list of explanations. Whyte left himself open in a fight he was winning, and got chinned in brutal fashion. **** happens, but there isn’t much positive gloss to that one.
Majority of comments about the terrible commentary! Adam Smith needs to get a grip, doubt it happens though.
Ten years ago, yep. the version Whyteleafe went life and death with for 23 rounds with his handpicked referee was dug out of the local cemetery and had a war cap stuck on him by David d Haye. Shot old delboy is a part time veteran fighter. Name value only. Perfect matchroom fodder to build Whyteleafe into something he isn’t.
Remember when Whyte belly laughed at Wilder getting beaten up so badly by Fury? Well to me, this was karma giving Whyte a receipt. What goes around comes around.
I get the impression Whyte also disrespected Povetkin by overlooking him, and constantly namedropping Tyson Fury as though getting that fight was a done deal for him.
I was happy to see Whyte KO'd the other night because like Joshua before him, I couldn't stand the unjustified hype. The man is going life and death with Derek Chisora, getting dropped every time he fights, hanging on for dear life yet sky, and that fool who used to post about him every day on here, were trying to tell us he's a beast who'll fight anyone and it's only a matter of time before he wins a belt. All rubbish obviously and Saturday was proof of why it's ridiculous people pay PPV money to see him. Povetkin rocked in on the zimmer frame and chinned him. No surprise to me or any realist boxing fan. Two brutal KO's on the record now. Old man Povetkin well able to do it again in December too.
