Joshua got two gifts in London seems like he can’t win anywhere else Martin was terrible and took dive ffs
Are you having a laugh mate Matchroom have put on boring lopsided matches for donkeys years and had the cheek to take 15 or 20 quid off folk and you wonder why folk don’t like Matchroom lol do you work for them mate cheer up games changed on dazn pay per view is dead lol isn’t that what Eddie Hearn said bet you believe everything door to door salesmen tell you as well
He’s been well prepared and mentored by the PR team at matchroom to enable him to make the most of his attributes. He’s a muscular, tall, supposedly good looking, young Black man. The key ingredients needed to be a huge commercial success in modern society. He has been heavily used by commercial brands who are desperate to be seen as being inclusive to a section of society that has often been marginalised and discriminated against by the ruling elite. It’s not his fault and he’s made an absolute fortune from it. Your ire should be directed at those who are unashamedly using him as poster boy for young black men for their own commercial and PR gains.
Are they? Hearn has never been taken to court over non payments. To my knowledge nobody has left matchroom with the reason being they were not paid or it took too long for them to recieve payment. Like him or not whatever a fighter agrees to get paid Hearn pays them in full and quickly.
One of the reasons why Ricky Burns went bankrupt is because Hearn convinced him to break his CONTRACTUAL agreement with Queensbury which gave Warren grounds to pursue litigation against him. Whether you think that was fair or not from Warren a contract is a binding agreement. And yes I’m aware that Queensbury owed Burns purse money but Warren wasn’t personally liable for that. It’s chess not checkers when Frank is at it. Like I said whether it is morally right or wrong doesn’t matter when it comes to the law. Time and time again we seem to see school drop out, wheeler dealer Twitchy Franky fish eyes get the better of top lawyers, it’s ****ing hilarious tbh.
I can remember Matchroom being called Matchroom in the 70's. How many different names has Wazza had and why?
Honestly mate I don’t really care because I’m not that invested in the boardroom side of boxing. But presumably because, as I alluded to in my comment above, he used company law to his advantage to ensure he isn’t personally liable for shafting fighters.
Why does that matter too? It’s just a boxing forum. Clearly there’s a bit of anti-MR stuff on here. That’s probably because they’ve put so much effort into marketing to casuals which lots of long term boxing fans will see as a bit cynical and cheapening the sport. There is ALWAYS push back on commercialisation of sport, especially in a more niche sport like boxing.
Which is ridiculous as the sport needs commercialisation. Hard-core boxing fans don't provide the money alone.
