I imagine Tony Bellew will have changed his social media profile pictures to a Ukrainian flag, so a matchroom representative has already got that one covered.

But you're right, people go out of their way to be outraged so on some topics it's best to just not anything if you can't be arsed with the hassle. The amount of abuse I saw boxers getting from the herd for daring to question anything about covid restrictions was a perfect example and these same braindead morons have now moved on to Ukraine in the same way.

It's ridiculous. When Israel bombs the hell out of gaza the response is minor but as soon as white Europeans are the ones having to suffer we see a complete different response from all parts of society and everyone and anyone is expected to say something.

Just check what Russia did to chechnya which was nothing short of barbaric and nobody gave a damn. Even more recently there bombing in aleppo, Syria but again the reaction? Silence.

I'm sorry to state what seems to be an uncomfortable truth, but not everyone supports Ukraine in this war. Believe it or not, some people take a stance (and believe that they are able to substantiate) that current events in Ukraine are not solely derived from the intentions of "evil Putin", but most people in the UK and the west in general, are educated by left-wing media outlets and virtually have no clue what is going on.

Again, I certainly don't support Putin's actions (I am antimilitarist), and empathise with both Ukrainian and Russian citizens, but I also support freedom of choice and speech. These assumptive questions fired at ignorant athletes are completely fruitless but we are in an internet age where clicks mean money and any response opposing the status quo will result in commercial turmoil and career immobility such is cancel culture in the current age.

    I agree!

It seems outrageous that while right now there are an estimated 200+ deaths (and every death is indeed a needless loss of life - to which I am completely opposed), the UK and US citizens can't bear to acknowledge the needless bloodshed dished out by British and American forces not so long ago in Iraq whereby hundreds of thousands of innocent civilians perished. There are countless examples of bloodshed throughout history that are spun in the nature of heroism as opposed to destruction.

United States has invaded or fought in 84 of the 193 countries recognized by the United Nations and has been militarily involved with 191 of 193 – a staggering 98 percent.

Covid isn’t even mentioned on the news anymore. They literally stopped talking about it overnight and moved on to Ukraine.

And loads of the people who've spent the past two years saying 'if it saves just one life it will be worth it', now think going to war with Russia would be a good idea.

Don’t even know what to say to this, it’s possibly one of the most stupid posts I’ve ever read on any forum.

In other words, you don't like what he's said but you incapable of forming an argument to oppose what he said.:polutxoso:

You can’t visit many forums then. I’m pointing out how quickly the media stops caring about it once they’ve got a new story to talk about. Go on the BBC main page and the Sky main page and try and find a story about Covid. Maybe if you scroll down far enough you might find one. These two media outlets have not stopped reporting about Covid for the last 2 years. Russia invades Ukraine and they don’t want to talk about it anymore.

That’s true mate but with Joshua’s intelligence I doubt he even knows where Ukraine and Russia are.

Easiest argument in the world. I checked the sky news app there’s an entire tab dedicated to coronavirus. Thought I would give the benefit of the doubt so I checked another news source. I checked the BBC news homepage where you only have to scroll down a bit to see numerous articles about covid.
So it is quite easy to form an argument to oppose what he said as I have just shown.

That’s before you even get into the very nature of how news works. New stories take priority over old ones, people are more interested in them so are more likely to click on the link or buy the newspaper, that’s why we aren’t still reading the same headlines that came out whenever the very first newspaper was printed.

I just have as I have posted above. One has a story on the main page, another has an entire tab dedicated to it.

Interesting that you conceptualise covid-19 as a mere "news story". Was the constant stream of covid-19 content as administered by mainstream media outfits, simply a "news story"? It didn't seem that way at the time. It was postulated as critical information to the consumer and the awareness of which potentially the difference between life and death. Isn't that more important to the British consumer than events in Eastern Europe?
