I have noticed Dillian has a massive curve on his overhand right, it is really quite unique and some have suggested it is due to poor technique. It appears to be quite a natural punch to me that has a decent impact, I was thinking it was similar to Razor Ruddocks OH right, any thoughts?
What amazes me more is that no-one of this forum (which harbours some of the sharpest boxing minds anywhere on the internet) has commented on Joshua's own right hand. Joshua has one of the worst right hands I have ever seen from a "top level" fighter. Joshua seems incapable of throwing a straight right hand with his elbow high and then bringing it back in a straight line back to his chin. Instead, Joshua's elbow is too low and he often brings his right hand back in an arch OVER HIS OWN HEAD. This means that a fighter with a fast counter left hook will have a clear shot on right side of Joshua's head. A head which has no movement at all - ever! Perhaps this is all too obvious for you geniuses to acknowledge...
What your describing in regards to Joshua's right hand seems physically impossible. How can his elbow be too low while is hand is also up over his head, is he Mr Fantastic and can stretch body parts like his forearm to do what you are describing. Surely if his elbow is too low, his hand can't be too high? His right hand seems OK to me, thrown from the shoulder, usually comes back into guard position quickly.
His elbow is too low when he throws his right hand. Your elbow is supposed to be high, which in turn makes your right fist horizontal (or more than horizontal). It's when he's bringing his right hand back when he is arching it over his own head. I am astonished that nobody has noticed this. Everyone I seem to tell just glazes over.
His overhand right is natural, he follows straight through his target. He also throws a nice short right on the inside and shows glimpses of a tight left hook inside as well.
Go to 4:55 of this video to see how poor Joshua's technique is: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fCGdsgV3zVU
Ok now I get what your saying and yes he usually keeps the elbow low and tight to the body when he throws the right, which isn't how most throw it, but Wlad does the same thing and his right hand is a thing of beauty. Probably does it to not expose his body to a counter body shot. As for bringing his arm back too high, I've seen him do what you describe but only when he is jumping back. Usually he brings it back too the shoulder in a direct line.
I'm not a Joshua wagon rider but you can clearly tell he pulled his arm back as such because he knew his job was done. That is the only example in the video of him doing what you described
Then why did he take 3 rounds to take out subpar fighters like Airich and Gavern, his power is somewhere in between being not as impressive as Mansour's and a little better than Wilder's. Whyte looks like he has a decent chin. AJ's another guy where the moment he steps up his matches will get longer and longer just like Deontay.
Oh come on, now you're just trolling, that's not how he usually brings his right hand back, he was just putting a flourish on a KO.
LOL now that I have seen it, its obviously just a bit of showmanship, similar to Julian Jackson's timberrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
That's a distinct possibility too.:yep I love how the Brits put down what a glass jawed hype job Deontay is, yet never like talking about AJ getting rocked and dropped in several amateur matches. I think we may have another glass jawed tin can crusher here.:think
