Samir Kurtagic (11-4) dropped Alexander Dimitrenko in the final round of their fight in the Czech Republic last night. Sasha still won UD8 but this doesn't bode well. I've never really rated him anyway. Michael Wallisch (8-0) and Ondrej Pala were also down on this card as fighting journeymen but their results haven't come through yet.
Dimitrenko could have had a good payday against the K brothers but he never took it. Instead he and his handlers were dead sure they could make him mandatory that would command a much better payday even. Unfortunately Dimitrenko is now back to club-fighter level and farther away from big paydays than ever in his career.
Was it a jab again that dropped Sascha? If it is, it's still better as getting KO'd by one as in his previous bout.
Good to hear he's still fighting, but the hunger is obviously gone. He's got that law degree to fall back on now, so it doesnt bode well for him if he's looking for a big fight. If he wants a payday, he could fight Helenius for the vacant EBU title b/c Pulev will likely take his shot at Adamek in a final eliminator in March, thus vacating his EBU title. I was hoping for Wawryk vs Helenius, but Dimitrenko is higher in the rankings, and he probably deserves the shot moreso than Andy.:think
