Heavyweight Contenders Collide in Stuttgart Unbeaten WBO #2 ranked heavyweight Alexander Dimitrenko (27-0, 17 KOs) will take on WBO #7 ranked Derric Rossy (18-1, 10 KOs) on the huge May 3 "Universum Champions Night" card at the Hanns-Martin-Schleyer Halle in Stuttgart, Germany. "Sascha" Dimitrenko is coming off a dramatic TKO over Timo Hoffmann last November in Magdeburg, while Rossy defeated former world champion Ray Mercer in his last bout. The winner of this attractive heavyweight clash will be positioned for a world title challenge. Also featured will be the first world title defense of hometown favorite and WBA cruiserweight champion Firat Arslan (28-3-1, 18 KOs) against an opponent to be named (unofficially, German media have mentioned big-punching Darnell Wilson as a possible foe, which would shape as a very crowd-pleasing battle between two aggressive fighters). Also on the card is WIBF/GBU female jr bantamweight world champion Alesia Graf (20-1, 8 KOs) defending her title.
This is a step down from a nearly shot Hoffman, but it's still a good stay busy bout. Dimitrenko should be able to stop him around the middle rounds. Rossy is made for a fighter like him.
I cant believe they are trying to pass this off as an eliminator..disgraceful. Dimitrenko is decent but he's no world beater. Top 10 at best. Rossy on the other hand shouldn't be allowed anywhere near the top 50 without a permit.
While nothing special Dimitrenko is still a class or two above Rossey.I expect a 6th or 7th round stoppage
I think Dimitrenko is good enough to get a title shot. Better than Skelton, and the guy Maskeav fought before facing Peter. Rossy is big, game, and can hit. Dimitrenko should win. Time is on Dimitrenko's side. He's still very young.
