So I guess this was Dimitrenko's "long awaited" return after the KO loss (via jab) to Pulev. He faced some chubby guy named Ivica Perkovic who dropped Dimitrenko at 12 minutes in with a left hook. I just dont know what to say. I suppose all these tall eastern europeans were trying to be the next Klitschko brothers because of the height and everything but none of these guys come close. Guys like Dimitrenko and Boytsov were led down the wrong paths. They were given too many easy fights too infrequently, they dont improve and they get hurt when Comp steps up. It's a shame because we need all the quality we can get. I only hope Wilder's team is aware of the danger of that career path. Dimitrenko called out Vitali a few years ago! LOL! He would have been stopped in 4 easy. Full Fight http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jqIpt7uYAEI
Yeah, someone jumped on my case saying Wilder shouldn'tstep up to Dimitrenko for a good next fight and he gets put on his butt by a fat man and before that went 8 rounds with another nobody. I think it would be a smart step for Wilder if there is a safe step up in this division. Wilder could test his chin against him and if he gets decked by him , which he shouldn't we would know where he stands. 6
Yeah I heard about this, getting dropped by a stiff like this isn't a good sign for Dimitrenko.. I think he should hang them up. Maybe he's trying to rack up a winning streak and cash out against one of the klitschkos before retiring though, who knows? Boytsov on the other hand is a real talent that sadly is going to waste, I think under better management like you said he could have/or could be something special, to be fair though his career has been effected by reoccurring injuries but still, I don't think he's been managed well.
It's true about Boytsov's injuries I know. He had some hand trouble a few times If I recall. But then he just recently had all that controversy with his management and everything so maybe there is a little more time for him because he is still young. Dimitrenko though was once in the top 10 Ring rankings. Things change so fast! I feel like his problems are mental though. He needs the equivalent of a Manny Steward to get him on track or something.
Thanks for the link. The KD seemed more due to Dimitrenko's poor balance than a particuarly hurtful punch. A pretty immobile opponent for Dimi, though clearly Perkovic can bang. It's odd how Dimitrenko has such a cautious style, has long reach, has good movement, yet still gets tagged alot! Hard to bet on Dimitrenko against any Top 20 opponent at this point. Maybe he'd have a shot against Adamek if he fought the perfect fight.
What a **** fight. Fat slob wild overhand right miss, Dimitrenko clinch. Fat slob wild overhand right miss, Dimitrenko clinch, rinse, repeat. I watched the whole last 3 minutes and didnt get to see the Homer Simpson lookalike stopped.
Dimitrenko looked pretty bad. The only positive would be a one minute compilation of all of his jabs, which at least seemed to be on point even if absolutely nothing else all fight for him was. The fight was awful to watch.
I don't think too, too highly of Wilder at the moment, but I'd pick him to KO Dimitrenko if they signed on to fight each other next.
