can you blame him though?? Hanshaw tried to clown him when he went down in the 3rd I believe from being off balance and hanshaw got right in his face when he was down trying to be all cute for the crowd. I would have done the same thing

Direll looks like a Dawson clone except with even faster hands and more explosive. I don't think too many people expected this type of performance. I thought Hanshaw would win. He made a huge leap tonight. He's another one to look out for. But he's got the tools you can't teach. Amazing hand speed.

He looked impressive. Too bad about his brother. Is he gonna stick at 168 or move up?

Thats the Dirrell I saw in 4 or 5 fights before the Stevens debacle. I'm glad he could show his talent tonight. He's still prime for someone to come in and overwhelm him, but he's getting better.

I believe he has a form of Cancer. Honestly I thought his brother was a better fighter, more power.

Agreed. As if it needs to be said, keep him away from Glen Johnson.

As of right now, he's nowhere near ready to face Glen Johnson. You can tell the skill is there. We'll see how the chin holds up.

Dirrell is SMW. Why would fighting Glen Johnson even be an option?

Keep him away from Miranda or Andrade though. Or Froch. Or anyone else who can really punch.

Maybe I am missing something, but I don't see the similarity.

I had the privelage of seeing Dirrell twice in the Michigan Golden Gloves and his improvement over the last year has been stunning. From about 2003 through 2007 he looked like the same fighter, his growth as a fighter stagnated, but it looks like he has his head in the right place now. He's coming into his own.

    :patsch

Hanshaw fighting Jones and Direll sparring with Dawson had me thinking about 175.

If Direll keeps working hard and improving at the pace he has this last year, fights with the guys you listed should be very winnable by 2009.

Unfortunately I missed the fight it was 5am here in UK, I wanted some sleep. Damn sounds like I missed a good one, hope it will be on youtube soon.
I thought on paper Hanshaw looked the fav having fought stronger opposition, however from what I read about Dirrell and seeing the size difference I felt that Dirrell would win this one after a shaky start.
