Oganov got beaten the only time he ever stood up in competition...and in faster time too.

He had a great performance but let's stay calm about this one.

That was a lame fight. The guy never even threw a good shot. Top ten guys would eat Dirrel alive.

nice performance against a awkward slugger. he was expected to win and it wouldve looked better if the ref had let him put oganov down.

The only thing that surprised me tonight was how Dirrell came out unloading all those punches in the first round. It's one thing to come out and set the tone early on but when you unleash an early assault like that you run the risk of gassing out later on and getting caught. The problem was that Oganov, despite his KO record, really posed no threat. Dirrell pasted him with jabs as he tried to get inside and cracked him with hooks and uppercuts leaving Oganov swinging at air as he would quickly sidestep him and get out of harm's way. Even when Dirrell was on the ropes he was too slippery for the Russian. There was no way for Oganov to get high percentage punches off. He was never in position to do so and that was due in no small part to the size disadvantage. The stoppage was ok IMO and Dirrell can go onto bigger and better things from here. Good win for him.

:rofl maybe the guys at the very top...But are you telling me that guys like Inkin, Berrio, Beyer, Bika, would eat this kid alive???? If so you sick..

Bottomline is The young american supermiddles are coming back, and even if its not Dirrell, there are four more just as good...As I said a year ago the guys like Kessler, Bute, Calzaghe, and Hopkins better get it now cuz they wont be able to later...

Maybe you should go back and read some of the post before the fight...alot of guys here was picking Oganov to win by knockout..which isnt a shock, nor is it now that people some of the same ones are now claiming that Dirrell didnt do anything, he did what was expected...Im not saying that you are one but there were plenty of them:good

Come on, Oganov should have had 'tomato can' tattooed on his forehead. The guy was sad, swinging wildly for the fences, no movement, no skill. And rankings are a pathetic joke: they mean nothing. Dirrell has every tool to become SMW champ, and I've been saying it for months now. But he's entirely untested against a formidable opponent. Let's see what happens when someone fights back .

I guess since I posted a few times in that particular thread you may be indirectly referring to me but if you look you'll see that I never said that Oganov would win. I said that it was a dangerous fight for Dirrell and that Oganov had a puncher's chance but I never outwardly predicted a KO for him. I was just excited about the fight and I knew full well that Oganov is what he is, a limited fighter with power.

Lets settle down here, he destroys a can and suddenly he can make it with Kessler and other guys. He has awesome handspeed and a lot of potential but right now he isn't world class. He fought a dominating first round and then got on his bike for most of the fight against a guy who wouldn't know the meaning of the terms effective aggression.

I'd like to see him try get past a determined puncher like Bika or someone similar before people start putting him up there on Jesus' level. IMO he picks up a few rounds against quality fighters on his speed alone but someone with pop will catch him on the ropes when he is taking a round off and stop him.

I don't have any problems with him but putting his name out there with guys like Kessler and Dawson right now is a total joke.

he had a very strong jab from either side. didnt see him get caught with too much until he punched himself out early on. caught 2 decent left hooks as he was moving away but nothing really to put him in danger. oganov had head movement but would get destroyed with uppercuts when coming in. good hand and foot speed for Dirrell but was just a few leagues above his opponent tonight. the performance was exactly what was expected of him. honestly didnt see oganov going down for atleast 2-3 more rounds. was taking a lot of clean shots but only got wobbled from an uppercut before the ref called it.
