My God, if there's one rematch that the world isn't demanding, it's this one. If the WBC can ban Arreola for six months in order to protect us from hearing bad language, I'm sure they will take the appropriate action to protect boxing fans from the chance of seeing that shite again.
Dirrell can **** right off! He clearly had the beating of the rather unskilled and amateurish Froch and was still too negative to take advantage. Froch was there for the taking, all Dirrell had to do fight but he couldn't even do that.
It was a close fight. get the **** over it already. if you hadn't done so much whining in the ring you could have been champion already Mr Dirrell. so shut your ****ing mouth already. besides shouldn't you be preparing for the head caving lesson courtesy of Abraham. also slightly off topic but what the **** is the point of having a split decision, whoever loses always moans about it. they should just announce that the winner by decision is.
If Santa Cruz didn't get an immediate rematch against Casamayor, and Spinks didn't get one against Phillips, no WAY should Dirrell get one smack in the middle of the Super Six tournament, the terms of which he agreed to abide by until it was over.
Since when do you fall to the floor at the sight of your opponent, since when do you bend to your opponents waist every chance you get, since when do you clinch without being hurt or tired? Goes both ways.
I wouldn't give ya a bucket of **** for either fighter, but fair is fair, and wrong is wrong. The ref was on Dirrell's ass over and over. Froch fouled with impunity. They should investigate that ref. He is either completely incompetent, or owned by Hennesey. In either case the fight should be changed to a no contest, and the ref banned from so much as attending a boxing match. The bias of the refs in both fights that night cost the sauerland six nearly all of the small amount of credibility it started with.
You think this should be resolved in the middle of the WBC, though? They all agreed to see it through, for the sake of the sport, putting their personal agendas on the backburner. If Dirrell quits because he feels he got screwed, or Taylor excuses himself because he's afraid of getting KTFO anymore, that would speak to their (lack of) credibility and depth of character as individuals more than anything. In Jermain's case I'm confident he'll stick it out, for better or worse (probably worse). We don't yet know what stuff Andre is made of.
The WBC isn't going to resolve anything. They are going to use the tourney as an excuse for not resolving a pretty clear injustice. I do not care about the judges. The fight, as awful as it was, was very close. The ref should be flogged in the public square.
Well if they're both eliminated in the group stage (I think in order for this scenario to play out; Taylor would have to KO Ward, and Ward would have to KO Dirrell...so, yeah, not terribly likely) they can rematch simply for lack of anything better to do. I wouldn't mind seeing them set things square sometime. Dirrell would almost certainly take a decision or stop Froch late. Honestly what's described above is best-case scenario for me, as both these guys make for ugly television. War Jermain! War SOG!
I agree with you except the credibility part. Sauerland organized this tournament and we as hardcore fans should be thankful fighters we are fans of are ACTUALLY fighting each other. As far as the ref, he CLEARLY physically pointed out to Direll he was clinching and holding. If ANY referee should be investigated it should be the one who oversaw CIntron-martinez. Martinez beat cintron TWICE in one night and was given a draw.
