watched plenty, if you'd pay attention he doesn't go around with his guard 24/7, it goes down when he's thinkin offensively(not attacking, but looking for an opening) he's eaten plenty of jabs, when he thinks offensively all dirrell has to do is jab'em in his face and he'll go back into a shell

all arthur has in this fight is a punchers chance

 

Abraham knows quite well when to put up his guard. Yes, Dirrell can land jabs and use his speed to get out of the danger zone. The problem is, very few fighters are able to excecute the perfect gameplan for 12 rounds. Abraham has always found his openings to land his power shots and that tends to make an opponent nervous. To beat Abraham would require a combination of an excellent chin and mental strength like Calzaghe/Hopkins possess. I doubt Dirrell is mentally that strong. Skillwise, he should have outclassed Froch, but he didn't.

 

He didn't even land his jab consistantly and with authority on Froch, how does he want to do it on Abraham ? Abraham stays behind his guard as long as he doesn't unleash himself, and that is the wrong time to try any jab on him. Oral landed at will, but AROUND his guard, not through it. That meant he needed to stay closer to him than he wanted, and he had to pay for it.

 

that was just styles, the reason for that is because of froch's style of having his left hand way out, lookin for you to come in so he can hook you(if you've boxed you'd know you dont run in past an opponents hand, you'll only get rabbit punched or if he's fast enough, take a shot to the chin), im sure he'll feel more comfortable using his jab against arthur and will be able to step in with it better than against froch

dirrell has a piston like jab, and when in the orthodox stance his left cross is just as fast but with more power

Dirrell has a great jab and skills and speed. The question is, does he have the mental strength to put it all together against a fighter who is harder to hit than Froch, punches at least as hard, if not harder than Froch and who has the same unreal confidence that Forch has? If Dirrell got that nervous against Froch, how is he going to use come up with the perfect gameplan against AA?

 

I think Dirrell is done after this tournament but time after time I like to be proven wrong. Just thinking, if he is too gunshy no way can he get a decision.

 

I don't even think very much of Dirrell's technique.

Overrated all around the board, some good speed but an awkward delivery of every punch, that's about it imo.

I expect Arthur to let him run around the ring throwing them amateurish punches at him, then end up finding the target and taking Dirrell out of there.

 

Right, we'll see on fight night. I'll venture a guess that Dirrell will need something more than a jab to win that fight.

 

You recall in the Froch fight when Dirrell would throw a straight right lunging in, then as Froch retreated Dirrell would let his right leg continue forward into the southpaw stance and throw a right jab? The straight right-right jab combo? He used it all night against Froch.

Abraham will murder him when he tries that. Absolutely murder him.

Dirrell has only a few things going for him--speed, decent pop on his punches, and willingness to throw combos at times. Abrahams rock-like chin will negate any power Dirrell has, and abraham's counterpunching will negate Dirrell's combos. The only advantage Dirrell has is speed in this fight, and imo, speed DOES NOT kill. Not unless all other factors are equal, which they aren't.

Dirrell has not got the fighter's mentality to deal with Abraham. He still thinks and fights like a damn amateur. He thinks that if he touches the other guy more than the other guy touches him, he wins. He should have learned his lesson with Froch, but I suspect he didn't. Dirrell is seriously overrated and has lost while looking awful in his only big fight. Abraham will frustrate him, hurt him, and take him out.

 

Well, seeing that Dirrell made it through the Froch fight without taking too much, I won't predict Abraham annihilating him with a 100% probability. It will have to remain seen in the first 5 rounds how well Abraham does when he tries to catch Dirrell.

 

The only thing that's going to beat AA is another fighter the same as him, but with more of all the things that have made him so far impossible to beat.

 

OK, but Dirrell lost that fight because of his emphasis on not getting hit. He knows he has to win this fight to advance in the tournament and that last time he lost with an overly cautious approach. I think mentally, this fight is a huge challenge for Dirrell. He basically has to be more assertive and take more risks against a fighter who probably hits harder than Froch.
