Ive been watching Froch for years. Trust me when i say that he was well off his game in the Taylor fight. He has far better technical ability than he gets credited for on ESB. His timing was off that night, and credit to Taylor he started extremely well. Froch is a far trickier boxer than folk who have only seen him in his last fight or two realise. Not the quickest, yes, but very akward to deal with and good at fighting at range. He's already beaten the fastest guy in the division, the guy who's style was most likely to cause him problems. He'll knock Dirrell out late.

I'm a little concerned that Frochs chin isn't as great as we all think it is. I'd like to see him rely on it a little less, as to me Taylor should have/could have finished him. (I'm glad he didn't though).

In saying that I haven't seen anything of Dirrell yet so who knows what happens when Froch lands?

Froch is slow starting, Dirrell is sharpe from the get-go, Froch may wear down Dirrell as he did Taylor. I'm looking forward to this match.

This is just plain wrong. From the moment Froch got behind his jab around the eighth, the only time Pascal landed meaningul shots was when Froch decided to trade. And I think people forget that Froch won a bronze medal at the world amateur championships in 2001 - he has decent boxing ability, but as many have pointed out his achilles heel is his lack of speed/mobility, exacerbated by his dodgy knees.
I am a massive fan of his but I have been worried since he's ventured into world class. Against Taylor I am willing to accept that his poor performance was down to nerves - the first time he had fought a marquee name in a big fight outside of Nottingham in the first defence of his belt. As aforementioned he's never been the quickest but his timing was unusually poor. Against Pascal he was landing the harder single shots, and had Pascal hurt several times, but his combination punching was sloppy. It was later revealed that he had a rib injury and a perforated eardrum, but I reckon Pascal's movement was why Froch failed to land cleanly in succession.

Maybe Dirrell is "Taylor" made for Froch

yeah, i'd have to agree with Dirrell here, but at the same time....who has he beaten to make me believe that he can hang in there with Froch who's beaten Taylor and Pascal?

it's true he has all the tools to beat Froch, but having the tools to build a house doesn't mean any1 can just go out there and do it, and Dirrell is in the same situation

the fact is no1 knows how good he really is, because his biggest win is over a domestic level fighter in Hanshaw..but thats what makes this 1 interesting

Froch is gonna pressure him like he's never been pressured before, and hit him harder than he has ever been hit. I guarantee he will not school Froch. I expect him to take a handful of earlier rounds and rock Froch, but then Froch to come on strong and TKO him. TKO round 10 for Froch.

Froch will tear Dirrell a new waste disposal system. KO before the championship rounds. Earlier if Dirrell doesn't run scared.

Dirrell isnt like Taylor if he can win by pot shotting and moving he'll do it. Add to that that fact that Dirrell is a true super-middleweight and the biggest and fastest fighter in this tournament.

    Bad stylistic match for Froch.

    Dirrell wide.

I don't see how a slow, clumsy man like Carl Froch can last more than 8 rounds with a quick, masterful boxer like Andre Dirrell. Has anyone ever seen George Foreman vs Jimmy Young? Jimmy Young was 20-5 going into that fight, Foreman was 28 years old and had only one loss on his resume. Young made him look bad with lateral movement and speed. Watch Dirrell vs Hanshaw on youtube and you'll see how good he really is.

I agree with everything you said, but Andre Ward is the fastest and best fighter in this tournament. He is the new Joe Calzaghe, and will finish the tournament undefeated.

Great post. Most people here forget how important speed is. There is a huge speed disparity in this fight, and I agree Froch may get embarrassed and KO'd.

Dirrell is gonna beat Froch. Taylor should have done it. In terms of talent Dirrell is way ahead and if he has the intangibles like heart, chin then Froch won't stand a chance.
