A recent article on ESB gets ignored big time.

    http://www.eastsideboxing.com/news.php?p=30218&more=1

Here we have a press conference hilight of Dirrell. Pay attention:

What kept you out of the ring for all this time?

“Well mainly I had to get clearance from the doctor and that took three months. I was finally cleared and then after that I was looking for a TV date and unfortunately a lot of dates were taken, but Gary Shaw was able to get me on this show and I’m really thankful for that. So half and half; half of my problems outside of the ring and half of my problems after what happened in the Abraham fight.”

Is there any question that you’re OK to get back in the ring?

“I’ve thought about it in my workout sessions but for the most part I’ve put it out of my mind. But once I really started to work out hard and spar it really left my mind because I always just believed I would be where I’m at when I left the sport. My only concern now is putting on a good showing for the fans. I’m not too concerned about any of the problems I had after the Arthur Abraham fight.”

So next time you hear a Dirrell fan talking about a 2 years recovery time bull**** please tell him to STFU.

Dirrell was looking for a fight for ages before the Cunningham bout. He was supposed to fight Conyers months ago, but no one wanted to put him on TV. Dirrell is extremely talented but I still believe he faked brain injuries. You can't get much lower than that.

Yet I've seen some Dirrell fans that use the 2 years excuse every time Dirrell is brought up. People should tell them that is bull****. Dirrell's brain "healed" in 3 months.

You can say that Kessler faked an injury (personally I do not agree) and refused to participate in the tournament becasue he thought he wasn't paid enough or because he didn't enjoy the idea of facing Ward again. ...Whatever you want to believe.
But there's no way Dirrell had enough time to do that analogy the second he was touched by Abraham. It was a "snowball" lie with which he had to go all along. ...Where "all along" equals three lazy months.

You think Kessler didn't fancy his chances against Allan Greene?

I think he was supposed to face Arthur Abraham, not Allan Green. I'm not that sure abut that but there's a slim chance he could have faced Alan.

It was Allan Green. In Denmark. Payday of 2½M USD. All but certain semifinal birth.

Those questioning the legitimacy of Kessler's injury should STFU. It has been well documented with television crews following him to leading eyespecialist in Denmark and Germany. Besides there was absolutely no motive to miss a tournament with such paydays and to give up his WBC title.

You are probably misleading yourself by taking what he has said literally.

IIRC, Dirrell had to be symptom-free for three months before he could seek clearance.

If successfully obtaining clearance took three months then although my mathematics is rudimentary, I believe three plus three equals six from being symptom free and there is no indication of when he felt he had reached three months of being symptom free.

I'm not going to argue with that as I wasn't sure in the first place. So thanks for the info.
PS: never thought Kessler "faked" an eye injury.

I never suspected that you thought he faked, but some trolls here spreads false 'doubts' to take heat off Dirrell.

I honestly doubt that a young man in his physical prime that's fortunate enough to be competing in a very rewarding competition, would fake an injury to force himself out of action for 18 months. The money he could have earned, the experience he could have gained, the opportunity to remain in the spotlight.....all down the drain, and for what exactly?

I know I was skeptical of his injuries to begin with, but let's be honest with ourselves, put our dislike for him to the side for a minute, and at least show some margin of sympathy for his situation.

Dirrell hasn't exactly helped his cause. His appearance in fightcamp 360 with the Dr. Shaw-Hi fiasco was a public relations disaster.

Dirrell could have been more open about the injury in the light of this, but he chose not to reveal anything. No medical records. No doctors statements. No nothing.

Why do you think that is? Ignorance or cheating? That's the only options.
