Schools Froch and now puts on a clinic with Abraham, only fighter that has a chance against this young man is Ward. Everyone else is not at his level.
I agree the only on that can beat him now is ward. he'kll have way more cofidence ina froch rematch and won't run like the first fight.
I agree, Dirrell is the biggest surprise of the tourney (yes, bigger than ward). Any real boxing fan had him beating the Cobra(you cant win rounds on non-effective aggressiveness) and he made Abraham look like an amature. A great talent.
Dirrell won the Froch fight but was unimpressive in doing so. He is basically a watered down version of Chad Dawson, which will be enough to potentially win this tournament IMO.
The seeding of the semi-finals might not allow it. Much will depend on who wins the Ward/Dirrell fight in Round 3. If Ward does, then Dirrell would have to get in, if at all, as the fourth seed. Ward would likely be the first, assuming he beats Green.
He is indeed, IMO, a master boxer. The things he did this weekend were beautiful. He used his length and speed to punch AROUND AA's guard many times, he showed beautiful punch selection and intelligence in deciding when to throw his uppercuts, he layed down a beautiful counter jab over the top of AA's own, he switched smoothly from orthodox to southpaw, among many other things like controlling the distance, showing improved footwork, and a nice activity level and countering as good as it gets for the most part. However, while it was a great performence, i still think that much like forrest in his day, his achilles heel will be a big strong high activity effective power puncher who brings the pressure (please dont bring up froch, as for all his achievements hes not what im talking about due to his complete sloppy approach, and that is for a different discussion) AA, IMO, is almost, ALMOST made for Dirrell.... youve got a short, slow tempo and low volume fighter who stalks behind a high guard. You put Dirrell in there with someone a bit bigger, who has a a lot more volume and can still bang and he will have problems again IMO. But that being said, I do happen to think Dirrell has a great chance of actually getting BETTER over time, if hes smart. as he settles down, learns from mistakes, ect, ect. Although he fought close to perfect this weekend, there are a few things while he might not have been able to do BETTER, he could have done SMARTER... i think he shouldnt get as excited as he does or overwork when he doesnt need to given he has the tendency to get a bit shaky when tired and pressed late in the fight. Overall though, when going over his performence i think one has to come away impressed with what he did.... i dont think anyone was expecting him to dominate AA the way he did during those first 5 rounds or so. Great performence from Dirrell :good
its easy to forget that was just his 20th fight i allways thought he would beat AA and he got ripped of against froch, top fighter him and ward will be a ******* !
He was brilliant against Abraham but I'd hardly say he schooled Froch. He was negative and held way too much. Had his output been higher, he may well have beaten Froch with something to spare. As it is, he didn't.
I agree.... i can see how this is somehow becoming a reality that dirrell schooled froch. He was fighting the champion in his backyard and simply didnt put on the kind of performence thats going to win that kind of fight, way too much falling over, backing up and things of that sort to undermine all the good things he did indeed do in that fight. I think its getting overblown how much of a 'schooling' that fight is... but i suppose thats just IMO.
I said at the time if Direll took the loss to froch as a learning experience he could be a real handful and so it tunred out. Really dissapointed in Abraham , he must have watched the froch fight , he must have known what to expect but he just doesnt seem to understand urgency !
