I agree, sort of. Ward has fighter's instincts that Dirrell doesn't seem to be developing, at least not quickly. He also has a professional style. Dirrell's failings in these two categories are putting a serious dampener on his natural gifts.
He'll get better. He's only had 18 pro fights and none that went 12 rounds. He'll come back against Abraham and establish himself as 2nd best before the 3rd round.
Eventually when its time to make that decision of "fight or flight" ... Dirrell would have an easier time ad******g to adversity.
I know Ward is more of a fighter and stuff, but honestly Dirrell only needs to make some adjustments, he looked good in the Froch fight, I hated his holding but if that's all you saw then damn... He needs to come out and fight a bit more, just a bit more though. Ward did lunge in and left himself open sometimes and Kessler just wasn't good enough to capitalize. And yes power is not end all be all I know, but he's also faster, and has better reflexes.
I disagree, Ward is the better fighter, but Dirrel does seem to have a little more power but Wardis better in every other department and especially in the intangibles
Its frustrating that people who hate on Dirrell act like they didnt see the 10th, 11th and 12th round where he displayed amazing physical attributes and beat Froch from pillar to post while displaying great defense and natural prowess. But meh, they'll become believers when he takes out Abraham,
It just occurred to me how silly a comparison reference this is now, as two years ago the Peterson brothers were probably more well-known than the Andres but today (especially after the last couple months) it's absolutely the reverse.
"Super" Zab is gifted, probably one of the most gifted fighters ever. Just saying... For now Ward is the better fighter. Better fighter > more gifted fighter. There's still a lot of time left.
