Erm, he won his first title in November 86. He fought 4 times in 87, 3 times in 88 and twice in 89 before meeting Buster Douglas in 90. So on average, when he was ripping through the HW division, he fought 3 times a year. i.e. the same as the supersix.
The same as the Supersixx, Mike Tyson was one man fighting the Heavyweight division...!!! Ermmmmmmmmmmmm early on in his career, he fought more than 3 times a year. And still this proves my point, Mike Tyson was the Heavyweight Champion of the world...and fighting 3-4 times a year. These guys are meant to be in a tournament, and their struggling to do ****ing that...........? How many times did Henry Armstrong fight in a year..? Do Athlete's in the Tour De France take 150billion years rest inbetween stages...? Listen i don't give a **** what anybody says from this point, the Supersixx should of had their fights 2 months apart, for this to work and feel like a tournament. I'm sorry this SuperSixx is not a tournament, its just a bunch of fights that have been put together over 150 Billion years. No one gives a **** about it, there is no media attention, its not making any of the fighters household names, and its been a complete failure. I ****ing hate it..!!
Mike Tyson fought 13 Times in 1986 Now you all need to shut the **** up. Ripping through the Heavyweight Division, Iron Mike Tyson. The Supersixx has been a complete failure, if i was a buisness man. And my job was to look at all the things gainned in the sport of boxing from the supersixx. "Like profit, media attention, success with viewing figure's world wide." Forget the match ups, and fights...........i'm not questioning that the match ups are not great. But boxing is a buisness, the fact of the matter is........The Supersixx is not doing the buinsess any good. The Supersixx is not, getting masses of people from the grass roots all over the world interested in the sport of boxing again, and its not catching the interests of the average joe on the street. Carl Froch is still not a household name, he's a ****ing no mark. And i like the guy, because he's a bad man......... The Supersixx has been a complete and utter failure. And i ****ing hate it.
Stop posting on it then. I love it. And so does everyone else (bar you) that I've spoken to. Your issues are with the sport generally (lack of press attention, too many times between fights etc). Than with the super six. Best concept to happen to boxing in the last decade. Hopefully it inspires more fighters and promoters to follow suit and match everyone up against each other.
3 fights in a year everyone in the Super Six. The most fights Tyson has in a year as a World Champion was 4, and thats becuase he has blowing through everyone, not having even fights. 1987 - 4 fights 1988 - 3 fights 1989 - 2 fights everyone would like to see boxers fighting more reguarly, but thats a problem with boxing in general, not the Super Six? Also they have fightcamp360
:deal This. Plus i love how at the bottom Froch says...if you leave the tournament you have to retire end of story! Good old Carl sticking his nose in where it has nothing to do with him LOL but hes right as usual!:rofl
The delays in the Super 6 are a pain the arse, but it we didn't have it all those guys would be taking 1-2 nothing fights, like the ones Bute is taking right now, in between top fights like these.
They could fight in Dirrell's kitchen and hed still lose by Unaminous Decision with his brother, Uncle and even himself keeping scored between rounds.
Taylor, Dirrell and Kessler=3 fights, not two. I'm not so sure Froch would have got round to having such these major, hard fights if it wasn't for the Super Six. Certainly not back to back anyway.... I don't care at all whether Joe Public has started to take more of an interest (or not) in boxing due to this tournament. I'm a boxing fan and I just want to see the best fighters in the division fight each other. No tune-ups or easy pay days, just real, meaningful fights. For us boxing fans the Super Six has delivered, no question about it.
i agree with fights on the same night, maybe not same venue but it would feel more like a tournament then and you would be looking forward to next round.
---------------- 1> Canada is one place, Mexico another and alsu USA and Europe can be neutral e.g. If it was in Vegas and Ward fought Direll it would be neutral for them as well as if Froch fought Kessler there the same night and Green fought Abraham (well maybe not 100% neutral for Green but almost)
How many times did Mike Tyson fight in 1986..? Whats that mate..? Yes Mike Tyson fought 13 Times in 1986, the YEAR he became the World Champion..!! End of debate, close the topic.
Let's just hope that it's promotional rubbish otherwise boxing does really need to sort itself out. It's eating itself and has been for a long time - to state the obvious.
