I feel Dirrell has all the physical attributes necessary to comprehensively beat Abraham i.e. Speed, athleticism, reflexes, power, height, reach BUT does he have the necessary focus, concentration and mental attitude to defeat a relentless machine like Abraham? Dirrell beat Froch in my opinion but his play acting and lack of focus and concentration played against him with the judges. If he can stay focused,I pick Dirrell to hand Abraham his first defeat. He has the physical attributes but does he have the mental attitude of a great fighter? I for one,am looking forward to finding out :good
I think this is the most interesting fight in this stage of the tournament. I personally consider Dirrell to have talents on par with the likes of Floyd Mayweather but you are right, he hasnt proven (yet) that he has the mental attributes to match I think he can box circles around Abraham, he is so elusive that Abraham will have a hard time finding him The only way he loses if he gets knocked out, otherwise he'll box circles around Abraham
I agree with you, this is probably the hardest fight for Abraham, I for once think if Abraham pulls this victory of he will win the tournament.
Lets hope that Dirrell remembers to fight and not run a marathon. Andre is a talented and very dangerous Opponet for any boxer in the super six. I think that going into this bout each boxer has a game plan. This bout will be dictated by the aggressor. Abraham is a known for slow methodical, measured aggression. If Arthur can counter against Dirrell's speed and awkward movement he will have success. I'm having a hard time picking a winner. In the end im going with Abraham for his power, experience and Boxing I.Q King Arthur split decision
I have a little different spin on how you beat Abraham than most people. I think that trying to outslick/outbox him for 12 rounds is a mistake. He has some serious fire power in both hands, and the longer the fight goes, the more chances he gets to use that fire power. I think you beat AA by jumping on his ass right from the opening bell. Hurt him early and keep him hurt. His defense is not as good as his nuthuggers would have us believe. LuJaun Simon penetrated his guard and snapped his head back with jabs repeatedly. Jermain Taylor mostly just went tap-tap-tap all night, and yet, the next day Arthur's face looked like somebody beat him with a freaking brick! I've seen eight of Abraham's fights, and I'll tell you right now, pressure and power will make him hide in a corner behind his shell. A good stiff jab and a big right hand will put AA in a corner everytime. The way you beat him is by forcing him backward onto the ropes or into a corner, and then use power, work rate, and good punch selection to suck the life out of him. That's not the way Dirrell fights. Young Andre mostly runs around the ring making mistakes and tripping over his own feet. AA mid rounds KO.
Pavlik KO8 Abraham, but my opinion of how you beat Abraham has been the same for a long time. He gives away the first 3-4 rounds. Refuse to slow dance with him. Use that time to beat the **** out of him, and he'll hide in a corner behind his shell. That should be obvious to anyone who has seen him fight. If you slow dance with AA, and give him time to study you, at some point you'll end up in harms way. Take control early and keep it. Hurt him early and keep him hurt. That's how you beat him. You do not beat Abraham by ***** footing around.
Well, I am one of those "Abraham Nuthuggers" and I do agree: Constant pressure, high workrate, lot's of power. The key to a possible victory. Dirrell has got talent, but lacks character and determination. Abraham KO9 Dirrell. I'd love to see Pavlik vs. Abraham though.
I expect Dirrell to maybe win the first couple of rounds but AA will work him out and open up more as the fight progresses. He will take the mid rounds and eventually hurt Dirrell late on and probably Ko him. If it goes the distance, I would still back AA to take a narrow decision. AA is very smart and like a true champion, when the chips are down, he delivers the goods (explosively ) AA KO 10th round.
Basically, in theory, I agree with Boo, the only difference is that AA's punching power can change your game plan. If you are not one tough beast of a fighter you'll be intimidated by Arthur's power. Now, Pavlik is one tough customer whereas Dirrell is not, but I've seen him fight without a defense multiple times, just going straight for the kill and swallowing everything what comes back from his opponent. I seriously doubt that any fighter in AA's weight class can afford himself to get hit flush by Arthur's bombs. If Pavlik can it will be an easy night.
No one is trading with Arthur at 168, the funny thing is even if that is your gameplan, to trade with AA, he probably won't! AA is a different style fighter, hard to figure out.
THis fights gonna be better then Ward vs Kessler. Same thing, "oh Ward will win the first couple of rounds, and then Kessler will take over and stop him" Seriously, like deja vu all over again. Cant wait, the crows gonna be massive this time around.
Doesn't matter right now -- the point is Dirrell does not have the attributes one needs to beat Arthur. He has the height and reach, but doesn't have the balls, the power, the consistent work rate, the coordination, or the ring intelligence. In my opinion Dirrell will have his moments, but at some point he'll do something stupid, and catch a straight right to the chin. A few seconds later the fight ends. **** you guys and your left hook-uppercut-looping right blah-blah-blah. It's that nice short straight right that usually proves to be the beginning of the end.:deal
:thumbsup You're right, it currently doesn't matter, but I still hope that we'll see the fight after the tournament is over. Pavlik is a tough dude and so is Arthur. It's still the fight I'm looking for.
