In Dirrell's next big step - how great would it be to see him face former world champion Jeff Lacy ...

How do you guys see this fight panning out?

and how far do you think Dirrell is from a title shot?

i thought direll's last fight was at 175 against hanshaw, and i think he should stay there.

Anyway, i think direll's still green and perhaps should fight 2 or 3 more before taking on lacy

168 CJLightweight ... no lightweight as of yet ...

I'm wondering if Dirrell and Ward will fight each other some time in the future.

What about Allan Green for Dirrell for his next step up in class CJLightweight?

I could see dirrel winning this one. One thing about dirrel that I noticed - when a fighter pressures him he loses complete focus in there and leaves himself wide open to shots. Hanshaw seemed to hurt him a little there in the beginning and handshaw is not a big puncher so to me, he has some chin issues. Basically, against jeff he wins definetly bet on that. But the minute he is against a real aggresive pressure fighter - put you rmoney on that guy. Dirrel's fast hands though are going to be too much for jeff.

As long as Direll's chin holds up and he shows the same willingness to be aggressive, he could make this fight look about as easy as the Hanshaw fight. It's possible that like Forrest, Lacy will keep looking better as he rehabs his shoulder, but he really looked like a shell of his old self against Manfredo. His timing looked off and he had long stretches of inactivity.

We also know now how well he deals with speedy-handed boxer types.

What!? If Dirrell fights anywhere close to how he did against Hanshaw he will have him out of there fast. Are people forgetting how shitty Lacy looked in his last three fights (especially against Manfredo)?

No, the fight was at 168. Hanshaw has always been a SMW except the RJJ fight.

Lacy's looked horrible in his comeback fights. Manfredo would have beaten him had he been just a little more active. I would favor Dirrell by a pretty wide margin here. It's a good name to add, and he's probably the weakest of the top 10 SMWs right now, but since most people and organizations base their rankings on fight results, and not how the fighter looks, it would help springboard him into contender position for a few of the belts.

I can't help but think that it would be an ugly fight though. Might end up looking like Dirrell-Stevens, especially considering that prime Lacy wasn't all that dissimilar to Stevens.

BTW Fitz - this thread begs for a poll, if you could add one.

Whatever Lacy was Calzaghe ruined it. Lacy is too slow of foot and hand to complete with Dirrell who obviously has decent power in his straights. Direll could stop him or possibly just run away and pot shot.

I might be the only one, but I honestly think it has more to do with the shoulder injury than the beating he received from Calzaghe.

Lacey's not a fighter, she's weak even for a Tom Boy type. And Gabby, forget about it she's 110% girly girl.

Amy on the other hand has a shot as long as Dirrell does hit and run like a *****.
