Please explain why this fighter is so highly rated. He lost to Froch in a close fight and Beat AA and now their is rumblings he will chicken out of the third fight with Ward. 1. Froch fight- Many here consider Froch to be extremely limited and more akin to a caveman than a boxer, yet Dirrell lost. Even if you beleive he deserved the nod it was still a very close fight and certainly no proof of Dirrells ability. 2. AA fight- Ok here he did stand out and show he is very capable, but also we have to remember the makeup of the fight looked to be changing and who knows how it might have ended if AA ahdnt cheated? 3.Ward fight- No matetr whate excuses are made this is just a cowards act and certainly no act of a great or potential great. So since beating AA is the only real thing of note he has done, does any future fighter to beat AA also suddenly get rated so high?
Im no dirrell fan but AA was a good win , froch was close as close can be and more importantly he was considered the weakest guy coming in, thus the big praise ( not to be cynical but being American doesnt hurt ! )
Great hand-speed, and that's not just arm punches either. Quick, snappy punches that can catch a guy off-guard. Tall and rangy, good technical skills, very good lateral movement and he's awkward and accomplished in both stances. Need more?
Abraham either just isnt that good or had a total off night. That wild swinging Abraham couldnt hit a cows arse. Ive seen some fights with him against the likes Lajuan Simon and Abraham was dog**** there too. the killer might not come out every night though. If Abraham had shown more bodywork, kept his punches on the inside lane and had half a timing he even would have won a decision under fair terms if Dirrell had a good chin. Dirrell has some very good skills, footwork, handspeed maybe some power too but he looks fragile and he just isnt that slick. He has enough flaws to get KO´d ten times.
I can only take this as you don't know what you are witnessing and just see two guys fighting and care about who beats who. IN reality it showed that dirrell was far superior to froch. It also showed that dirrell's team had a bad gameplan and might not be great strategist (atleast on that night). If they would have been aggressive with froch then it wouldn't have been a close fight and possibly a KO. Froch couldn't hit dirrell even when dirrell became aggressive with him. Look close and you will see some real signs of greatness in that fight. Things that others just cannot do. Dirrell was countering in the line of AA's fire and not being touched. As for late in the fight, Look at the 10th and 11th real closely. Dirrell was fine and AA was throwing arm punches even when pressing because he was scared of being countered. AA was putting nothing on his shots. Even the straight right that knocked dirrell down had nothing on it. He was just off balance. Look at AA's body when he throws his shots. He didn't load up on anything late. Put yourself in his shoes. Seeing that you said this then you obviously didn't and don't really understand what a home advantage entails. You prolly don't understand what a friend entails either. He wants an even playing field. He has a whole career to go and to him personally his career is more important than the super six. Beating AA is better than anything most fighters have done. While you mention it, Beating AA is better than anything on Bute's resume if you want to compare. He wasn't hit with more than 6 power shots upstairs against froch while landing a blatant 40 plus power shots upstairs, but people didn't like how his tactics and ability didn't give froch a chance. So they robbed him and gave it to froch when he didn't earn it through scoring criteria.
Dirrell is a very good fighter, he has skills, athleticism, and good power...with that being said he is still green and is still a bit of a boy. his confidence is not to the level where it should be yet, but he was kind of thrown to the wolves being put in the super6 merely based off of potential (i believe handshaw was his most notable victory befor the s6)...i dont get the unjustified criticism he gets here a part of me believes it is because of his skin color.
Your ****ing kidding right? Dont play the race card man, the reason most people dont like him is because he i god awful to wach and all mouth no action, 50% of the super six are black you moron we dont ***** about Ward or Taylor
I don't think he is awful to watch...I don't care what color the other members of the s6 are you MORON I am talking about Dirrell not them...and fyi many people don't like ward either because of his style...the fact of the matter is that many people dont like flashy, athletic, slick african-american fighters who utilize their gifts instead of fighting like a caveman...some of the criticism he recieves is justified, but i attribute this to him still basically being a boy, he hasnt even grown into his body yet
His win over AA was well overrated. Everybody knows AA's cover up style early and Dirrell was just throwin loads of punches hitting AA's arms and guard. Americans and Showtime were just hyping up the action. When AA actually started to fight like he does around the 6th round it was a completely different fight.
he will get more depending on how he beats him...many people still cling on to the idea that dirrell could have gotten knocked out and faked being hurt to avoid it...
Froch certainly can beat AA but he won't look as good doing it nor will he make AA look as foolish as Dirrell did. Dirrell made Abraham his *****. Froch will take some serious punishment in his fight with AA.
