Dirrell looks proper quality to me, chose a dodgy tactic in the Froch fight which cost him and he learnt from it, maybe being harsh but i think he acted out the Abraham incident but until that point i thought he was fantastic. Not my kinda fighter but like i say i think he looks quality and is guna get better too.
I like Dirrell, he's my favorite fighter from the super six. When are you posters gonna learn that styles make fights. That's what great about this tournament everyone has his own style. I hope Dirrell gains massive confidence over his AA win, I'm sure he did when he went back and watched the tapes. I would like for him to beat ward but I'm totally unsure of who would win that fight. I hope it happens.
He was my least favourite fighter before the tournament started, but now he is my favourite*. Hope he beats Ward! Go, Andre!!!!:good:happy *after Kessler.
Prior to the start of the tournamet Dirrell's best wins were Anthony Hanshaw, and Victor Oganov. Fulgencio Zuniga had an IBO title fight with Oganov, beat him from pillar to post, and knocked him out long before Dirrell got to him. Hanshaw was a stand-out amatuer, but has never amounted to much as a pro. Going into the tournament Dirrell looked like the weakest link. He has since proven that he can hang with the big boys. Anytime I see a fighter prove beyond a shadow of a doubt that he is much better than I thought he was, I tend to jump on the band wagon.
After speaking with Dirrell he's anxious for the fight to be made. He's in superb shape right now he's just waiting for Gary and Dan to agree for a venue. His confidence has reached epic heights which tells me we will see the Dirrell we've always wanted. Talking to him about the Abraham fight he was like "After re-watching the fight man I realized that I'm the best their is". "Ward is going to be on the losing end of this war". More on the Ward fight: "I know how he fights, I know I'm smarter and faster. Best of all I know how I need to fight to beat him badly. When he tries to rush in he'll get stuck and probably dropped. There's no doubt in my mind when I do fight Ward I'm bringing the championship home". Another important quote: "I've seen Ward sparring while training for the Olympics getting dropped by everyone, including myself". "I know if I catch him at the right time he's done".
I agree 100%. Kessler and Dirrell are my two favorites in the tournament. Froch is also always cool to watch though (just annoying that he couldn't take his first defeat as a man). Ward is too dirty and quite boring to watch.
I have him winning the rest of his fights in the super six. Hopefully him, froch and kessler will win so I can see a dirrell vs froch rematch with a kessler vs ward rematch. I think dirrell is definately gonna knock froch out if they fight again.
Yes, very nice. However it also says something about Direll's power and AA's chin that he wasn't rocked by a precise counter to the jaw that he didnt see while going forward.
If that happens I think they will end up: 1. Ward 2. Kessler or Dirrell 3. Kessler or Dirrell 4. Froch Based on rounds won. and that means the semis would be: Ward-Froch Kessler-Dirrell
Has there ever been another fighter that can make a well schooled fighter look totally ******ed in the ring? I'm half tempted to say Dirrell could even make a fool out of a prime Roy Jones Dirrell seems to have the uncanny ability to set his distance and get his timing right almost immediately, no matter the opponent. Dirrell also seems to always have the advantage position wise in the ring. His opponent always seems to struggle to adjust or adapt. When Dirrell decides to attack theres not a whole that can be done because as soon as the opponent opens up they're punished. Also Dirrell can be a monster when pushed to the ropes. He unleashed this fury against Froch and Handshaw. Both of which were hurt as a result. To me Dirrell is more impressive than a Roy Jones Jr for the simple fact that along with the amazing athleticism, speed, and intelligence, he's a far superior boxer. The great thing at this stage is Dirrell isn't done progressing. A few fights down the road and we'll see Dirrells peak.
Lets not get too far ahead of ourselves. Dirrell is a helluva boxer. But he hasnt proven himself Roy Jones Jr yet. But your words do encourage me about his fight with Ward.
