Toney mateen gotta be it. Not sure what ernest mateen was thinking to be honest. He pretty much only threw Rabbit punches. Foremanscommentary was hilarious. "Best thing ive seen in boxing!"

 

Armstrong-Ambers 2 was pretty bad. Armstrong threw so many headbutts, low blows, and elbows you cant count em.

Holyfields career from the time he started swallowing fistfulls of steroids 9 times a day.

Golota-Bowe 1 and 2

I havent seen it but the Zivic-Bummy Davis 1 fight was ridiculously dirty on Davis' part. I have the radio broadcast and Sam Taub makes a point of saying "we dont call foul blows unless the referee calls them" and then goes on to call low blow after low blow after low blow. It was crazy. Dont believe the notation on Boxec saying Davis was enraged because he was thumbed by Zivic. Davis was getting outboxed, counterpunched, and dropped by Zivic. He simply couldnt cope and tried to turn it into a street fight. Both announcers made it clear he fouled because he couldnt beat Zivic. He was even called on a foul early in the first long before Zivic supposedly thumbed him. It was such a travesty that you can hear the sadness in the two announcers voices over how much of a freakshow Davis turned the fight into. Bummy later tried to say Zivic quit but the broadcast makes it clear Davis was thrown out because his fouls were so flagrant. At the time, in New York, a fighter couldnt be disqualified for fouls, he could only lose points or rounds, but Davis' just fouled and fouled and fouled so flagrantly that they had to stop it as it was on the verge of causing a riot.

 

Wilfredo Gomez ignored whole chapters of the rulebook against Lupe Pintor.

 

He wasn't very nice to Zarate either. (Fight was of course in San Juan. The Sal Sanchez fight was in Las Vegas....which played to Sanchez's favor)

 

Hatton v Tszyu. Such much grappling, rabbit punches, low blows, forearms in the neck etc. The referee really let them do anything to each other.

Fenech vs Callejas. It was a pure foul fest from the beginning.
Fenech said ''I fought great. My skills were just excellent in that fight. I got hit with a good punch in the first round that rocked me. I just admired him, the way he elbowed me, thumbed in the eye and head-butted me. Everything he possibly could do to win, he wanted it that badly. It’s just a fight that I will never forget. Had he fought anyone else that night, he would have been world champion again. Callejas was the dirtiest and toughest fighter I fought, but he was also very, very skilful. I busted my nose and I had sore hands. I remember coming home after the fight, sitting in the bath crying. Putting my hands in hot water was killing me.''

Collins Jr. was an undefeated fighter coming into the fight and literally never even knew what hit him.

Ali Wepner was bad .. Ali basically fought with one glove, the other being used to protect the back of his head from the 100 + rabbit punches Perez allowed .. I remember Ali saying he had welts on the back of his head for days well after the fight ... Saddler Pep 4 was as dirty as they come as well

 

I remember watching ESPN Top Rank Boxing in the mid 80's when I was a teen. The fight was Juan Arroyo vs Clay Davis, a lightweight bout. Arroyo made Andrew Golota look like Mr Clean when it came to hitting below the belt. Arroyo hit Davis below the belt deliberately, flooring him on several occasions and Davis was writhing on the canvas in pain from the low blows. Finally in the fourth or fifth round Arroyo was finally disqualified. I don't know what prompted him to deliberately hit Davis low so many times, if it was a prefight incident, possibly racially motivated, I don't know...... I remember Al Bernstein was doing commentary and he was in absoloute disbelief, with all the times Arroyo was hitting Davis in the balls.
It's odd how after 30 some years I still remember that fight, no belt on the line, just two young and up and coming lightweights, but those low blows were absolutely brutal.

 

Kabary Salem vs Randie Carver & Mario Veit. Dude was out of control with his headbutting.

 

Fenech-Callejas has already been mentioned above, I see, but there's another Fenech fight which needs considering: his war against Villasana. Jeez, what a brutal fight that was. Plenty of dark arts on show from both guys. Little wonder Fenech was burnt out at twenty-eight, his style was just so intense and draining.

 

If we're rating based on one fighter who was absolutely filphy, I'd go with Abner Mares vs. Agbeko. It was ghastly. I was a fan of Mares, but by the end of the fight I was rooting for poor Agbeko who endured countless shots below the belt without retaliating.

Pacquiao vs Agapito Sanchez was pretty outrageous too.

As mentioned above Kabary Salem was involved in some stomach churning affairs. Something about his awkward, dirty style always made for an ugly affair. Sakio Bika's had some damn ugly fights too.

 

Nothing tops Tyson's ear bites.

 

Luis Resto and Tyson are hard to beat. But for sustained excellence Pedroza vs Laporte is the worst I've seen. 15 rounds. How he wasn't DQd is a mystery. Golota got DQd fairly early. Pedroza made it an art form and somehow got away with it.
