In addition to the classic names already mentioned, Sammy Serrano deserves a shout. Among heavyweight champions, Jack Sharkey is a good candidate. Galento practiced his elbows in sparring.

Now, Luis Alberto Lazarte deserves serious recognition. To still be that dirty at his age requires tremendous discipline.

Evander Holyfield headbutted Mike Tyson to victory and tried to put Foreman away by elbowing him numerous times.

These three were, however, a noble, even admirable trio of the art of dirty fighting, and can be excused IMO, due to their indomitable artistry in that pursuit.

Marciano's job on Cockell was meritorious.

I heard Mysterious Billy Smith was one of the dirtiest fighters ever, was disqualified 13 times for fouls. Plus the fact it was during a time when they let more things go he must have been pretty dirty.

Most definitely Manos de Piedra was dirty. But he was nowhere near as dirty as his countryman Eusebio Pedroza. The ABSOLUTE FILTHIEST fighter in recent times is Ricky Hatton, bar none.

    Eusebio Pedroza was absolutely filthy.

Now a days I can't stand watching mini-Evander Tim Bradley headbutt his opponents into submission.

Harry Greb and Fritzie Zivic and Tony Galento were three dirty mofos.

So were many others - just about every good professional learns some dirty tricks. Billy Conn and Lennox Lewis deserve a mention simply because they get overlooked in the dirty fighting stakes despite their repeated efforts.
Tyson's expert headbutting gets rarely mentioned since he whined about Holyfield's butting. Tyson was at least the world's #2 in that department.

Pedroza is always a good shout.
Marciano, Dempsey ..... the list goes on ......

Watching the film of that fight saddened me.
