Now thats what hurts, when people like yourself ask me if I REALLY think Arthur will win, like Im just blindly backing Arthur cos hes a scot. I have always said Guzman is overrated, he has never impressed me that much. Look at his record Taff, its not all that, & he isnt the biggest or strongest fighter in the division. Hes also fighting against a big natural super-feather in Alex Arthur, a former british, commonwealth & european champion with a great amateur pedigree with sound boxing skills, sound power & a good jab & throws a mean left hook to the body. Sit back & think about it with a clear head, dont listen to the Guzman loving & this fight suddenly isnt a mismatch. Guzman is fighting a european champion who is in his prime in his own backyard. Thats not what I would call an easy nights work. & then look at Guzmans KO record since hes stepped up in weight, he hasnt carried his power up the weights. But I know this post is like whistling in the wind, peoples minds are already made up that Guzman is fighting a no-hoper cos Arthur suffered a flash knockdown in his last fight. People say its Arthur that doesnt know what hes let himself in for, but IMO its Guzman that has made the mistake taking this fight. Of course Arthur can win. & he WILL win IMO.
Because Guzman was previously a super-bantamweight, that makes things decieving. Make no mistake about it, Guzman is one of the biggest and strongest in the division. He weighed in at 132 1/2lbs for a non-title fight, the one before Barrios, and amazingly stepped on the scales on fight night at a whopping 147lbs. Thats coming in as a welterweight. Just under a full stone between the weigh-in and fight time. Pacquiao comes under the same criteria. He's moved up about four weights and is not struggling to make super-featherweight. If anyone is naturally bigger than the other in this fight, It's Guzman being bigger than Arthur. But the size difference aint much, not enough to shout about.
Just because Guzman is fighting someone in his prime who's a former European champion that automatically means its not an easy nights work for him? On paper that holds Arthur in good stead, but it's not set in stone that its not an easy nights work. Not unless you have a crystal ball. If someone has the opinion Arthur will win, no problem. But to say because he's in his prime and a former European champion it aint an easy nights work for Guzman. Well, maybe you like to think so Dunky. But we shall need to wait and see. I'm basing my prediction on ability and versatility.
He may put on a ridiculous amount of weight, but sadly for Guzman it doesnt transmit into punching power. He may be one of the biggest, but hes NOT one of the strongest. He hasnt been a big puncher since his super bantam days. One glimpse at his record tells us that. As for Arthur, he hurts guys at super-feather. Hes a natural super-feather, who has power at the weight. Guzman may have the weight advantge come fight time, but thats about it. & remember, bulking up too much takes away the one thing everyone goes crazy about when talking about Guzman, his SPEED. But Im giving away too much here already, I just want to sit back relax & let everyone go Guzman crazy before I have my last laugh.
You say you are basing your prediction on ability & versatility, thats fair enough. I just dont see the ability & versatility in Guzman that others see, like you dont see how fighting a former european champion in his prime in his own backyard is a problem for Guzman. Its a stalemate, none of us are going to convince the other that we are right. Just remember to come into my Alex Arthur party thread after Alex has won Robbi. There will be cheese, wine, & a pig called Huki to be feasted upon. Dont miss it!
