Judah comes to mind firstly/ If JMM hadn't put on an awesome performance against Pac lately, I'd be quite disappointed that he never eclipsed Barrera and JMM. FMJ is quickly rising on my list as well. Too much talent put to waste.
I remember early in their careers, Bojado and Cotto were compared and many (including me) felt Bojado would be the better fighter.
Moron....I'm trying to see how Money would be on your list for disappointing careers? He's made millions (In 2007, he was the second highest paid athlete in ALL OF SPORTS (i.e football, baseball, basketball). He's a PPV stars He's undefeated He's sitting on top of everyone P4P top 5 list He's one of the most COMPLETE active boxers today. How is he wasting his talent? Yes Money is a wifebeater and that disgusting but doing 90 days isn't going to destroy his boxing career. This thread should be about boxers who careers are ALREADY destroyed.
but as a boxing fan you can't help but feel a little disappointed. the guy hasn't taken a dangerous fight in forever...
off the top of my head, for me personally- zab judah kelly pavlik edwin valero(more his life than career) audley harrison mark breland meldrick taylor chad dawson sam peter almazbek raimkulov (however the hell you spell it, kid diamond) david lemieux kassim ouma jermain taylor nearly every american HW from the past decade. and the guys who have the potential to be really disappointing (in terms of the level of success they achieve and their longevity at the top of the sport vs their potential) but aren't there yet and hopefully won't be- victor ortiz andre berto amir khan alfredo angulo devon alexander Theres lots of other guys, guys who were on the FNF type shows expected to be future stars and were derailed early on, or guys that seemed to have what it takes to be champions but were either one dimensional or couldn't get over that last hump.
ricardo williams jr. had a stellar amateur career, winning the golden gloves and a silver medal at the sydney olympics, in which he was tipped as the best boxer in the games. turned pro, was unbeaten in 9, then lost a decision. won a few more, lost again, then he was sentenced to 3 years in prison for conspiracy to distribute cocaine (by fed ex, as you do.) when released, he resumed his boxing career, but was ko'd in his last fight in december this year.
Some of the picks in here are laughable, multiple weight champions ? do you have any idea what it even takes to get to world level
