Don't see Stalker becoming any kind of contender at World Level. Maybe Euro level. Maybe. I like Scotty Cardle, though. Think he has a bit of something. Yafai & Smith are the standouts ATM IMO.
Joe Murray. Admittedly he's been badly managed and let down by promoters. Hopefully he can still make something of his career. Chris Eubank Jr. Fought nobodies in his first 9 fights and I've seen absolutely nothing so far to suggest he's any good. Frankie Gavin. Has all the talent but hasn't made the most of it. There's still time so hopefully he too can finally kick on and move forward.
Sorry lads didn't intend to cause arguments, just spark a debate. I can definitely see where you're coming from regarding Haroon Kahn, however he's 7 years younger than Stalker so I think he's got time on his side. I'm not writing Stalker off at all but if he doesn't face any meaningful opposition in his next few fights then he'll quickly fall off the radar. Calum Smith from his first fight showed us how exciting he was and Stalker hasnt shown anything since his olympic disappointment.
And Harry Matthews and the scottish kid Allinson is it Actually toughest prospect run I've seen for a while and he is in 8 rounders already
Michael Maguire all the way. I hears recently he's gonna' make another stab at it but as an amateur he looked primed for pro' success, then fell to bits on Setanta I think, getting frustrated with journeymen.
Eubank Jr won't amount to much but I think he's being brought along well enough. David Price's first five or six fights were against worst opponents and he didn't spark 'em all either. Did alright once he moved into true domestic class. I agree with OP Stalker is going nowhere and I could've told you that before Olympics. On the international scene I was pretty hyped about Lemiuex, fought his obvious talent would still see him do some damage at top level despite his T-Rex arms. Thought that it would even it out and he'd win some, lose some against the better 160lbers. Turns out he was totally lost against Rubio and couldn't stop the vulnerable Alcine. I dropped a biggie with that one Also felt Cesar Canchila would go on to be a good World level operator but he was shot post-Segura I.
Might have to split this into fighters who were hyped up as big prospects and simply aren't at the level they're made out to be and fighters who have ability and their careers have stalled for whatever reason, but they can still make something of their careers. If ****** is the reason their career has stalled, then discuss it in another thread, there's enough about him, Hearn, Boxnation and Sky as it is.
Anyone remember, Naseem's stable mate Khalid Shafiq? He got a big build up on SKY, and yet when it came down to it, he did not even win a pro fight!
I bought into Lemiux too. At the same time as I got excited about James Kirkland and Gary Russell Jr. Kirkland was Ko'd in 1 by Ishida who has since gone on to be beaten by an over the hill Paul Williams decisioned by Pirog and destroyed by GGG. And Russell has just stalled. I think I may have ended all three of their careers by picking them out early on...
Think Stalker has had a rather underwhelming start to his pro considering he is a 28 year Olympian and Commonwealth gold medalist when you compare him to Smith, Yafia and Cardle people who did not make the olympic so turned over he is defo behind them with his age and pedigree been taken in to consideration
