"Iron chin" you say? Not any more, I thought he looked a little bit shaky on Saturday.

I don't care how hard he's trained, you only have to look at Harrison's face to realise the years haven't been kind to him. He looks about 65 years old and it will all catch up with him as soon as he fights anybody reasonable.

Kevin Mitchell would demolish him inside a couple of rounds, let alone any chance against Burns.

It's admirable that Dunky still believes but a younger and prime for prime far better fighter is the man now.

You talking about that punch on the back of the head that threw scotty off balance?
As for him looking older, Scotty looked old even when he was 26:lol:

So basing Scottys punch resistance on the wrinkles on his face doesnt wash with me, & I can only re-emphasise that only a fool writes off Scotty Harrison if hes Ricky Burns next title defence:deal

    I know what I am talking about:smoke

I'm not basing his punch resistance on the wrinkles, I'm basing it on the fact that he got hit with legit shots from a moderate puncher and he was definitely stung a bit.

Scotty may have looked old at 26, but he now looks like an old man ruined by alcohol. I actually think it's admirable that he's giving boxing another go after such a long layoff, but lets be honest, this isn't going to be some kind of Indian summer for him.

This comeback will not end well...

I never said it was going to be a glorious comebck, I am just telling people that if he fights Burns in December, dont fall into the trap of thinking Scott Harrison is a no-hoper in this one, cos that would be a BIG mistake.

    TRUST me!

    Mismatch bordering on circus act.

I've no interest in watching a guy so far past his prime who looked unimpressive against some 30 yr old unknown who took the fight on 10 minutes notice getting a shot at a "world title", makes a mockery of a title that the only credibility it can have is by the opponents the holders defends it against.

Burns should flatly refuse to fight Harrison for his own reputation.

I disagree to be honest it seems to me that the people i have spoke to have been excited by his return. Mostly people saying things like ' yeah that guy was an animal!'. A couple people including myself were also looking forward to seeing Harrisons fight on Saturday just as much; if not more than, the main event itself.

However this isn't to say that i was entirely impressed with what i saw in the end.

I can't agree with this either as i think it would be a good competitive fight worth watching and one surely that should be thought about getting made next. If not then someone around Rees's level as you say.

Look above, i completely agree he has to fight someone at British or European level. Not because he wants to, but because he needs to. He needs to gradually but also relatively quickley step the opposition up and basically do a crash course in boxing again to get anywhere near the level he was once at.

Now i have been reading threads about the two fighters recently with some interest and i have to say i completely agree. For me it would finish one of the two fighters off for good. It would ruin Rickys run that he is on and finish Harrison off completely. As a Scottish boxing fan this is no good. It would be nice to see Ricky carry on and do his thing in America whilst seeing Harrison climb the ladder again to the top. (In a perfect world).

I must say i was worried when i seen Harrison take shots and look a bit shaky, i worry that his chin has gone now and if it has, well he can forget it. Lets just hope that the Lightwelter weight at which he was fighting was to blame and it was genuinely him getting caught off balance. It did look suspect though i agree with you which also makes me question how clean he has been living in the run up to this fight.

Was the heavier weight class down to Scott not being able to make weight in the first place? Surely not...

And finally, i really hope your prediction is right Dunky, it's great to see Scott back and i am watching with interest.

so a former 2 time world champ is a circus act now cos he KD'd & won a shutout against a journeyman on an undercard on his comeback?

    The mind boggles:-(

Give me the Real McCoy anyday personally. Scott will always be my hero and as much as i think Ricky is a sound lad Scott was a beast when he got flowing and i love my beasts!. A fella i know well met him and watched his training in Torquay and said the man is scary and he trains ridiculously hard.

I don't like this fight though i think give Scott a test against a legit fighter then if he wins give him what he wants. For me Scott is still tight and just wants to get stuck in. He did some nice things like half stepping back to draw the mans lead and counter and the KD was nice work but really he looked tight and couldn't flow.

I don't think Harrison is as far gone as some people are suggesting in this thread.

Obviously, we'll only know for sure when he steps up the opposition. I'm still (very) interested in a Murray-Harrison fight; hopefully that gets made.

SPB, are you my long lost brother?:D

Like you, I love my beasts too, & although it would be nice for Scotty to get some more warm up fights to strike Burns at the perfect time, as Napoleon says dont wait, cos the time will never be just right...

Time is Scottys enemy, NOT Ricky Burns. So the sooner the fight is made the better.

:lol: Maybe i am Dunky maybe i am :good.

Yes that's the worry as well put Scott in a hard fight and he may fight his world title fight in a eliminator. Might be best to just let him go after Ricky and see if he can muster up some of his undoubted class.

I'd love nothing more then to see Scott become world champion again :yep.

Harrison will do well to win a domestic belt. I think Ricky would do a Nicky Cook on him.

  15. It's Neary-Holligan on a much larger scale.

I'd be for it before Ricky goes Stateside. Give them both a decent payday.
