now yer talking about a 120lb fighter in with a 147 guy! cmon get real

lara and ggg are a division apart!

if ggg is beating up kova and heavyweights in sparring than no one can take his shot! so lara is just as worthy as anyone!

you guys keep making up every excuse instead of just saying "yeah i dunno why k2 isnt interested at all"....which is the only logical response....because lara is as good of a shot as anyone ggg has fought so far

is lara as big of a threat as anyone ggg could potentially face?? no....but hes as much of a threat as 95 percent of gggs current resume

being big and being able to take a shot doesnt make a fight....margarito can do it...and he stinks at boxing....lara can at least do some things pretty well...like make someone miss and defend...move a little....

Too many words to read in the OP. Gotta make it short but sweet homie. Now let's see a thread about how Canelo isn't scared of GGG, since that's the truth. GGG's team clearly wants their cake and to eat it too with his career progression. Lara would break his KO streak at the minimum. He might expose some flaws. So I'd have to disagree, it's a threat to the career progression and management GGG's team wants to have, and people talk **** about Floyd's career management. a lol.

Well, while I would say he is more skilled than those guys, I would also say that he is naturally smaller and I have major doubts that he's anywhere near as durable as the least durable of that bunch.

I wasn't referring to you, or anyone specifically, Shock.

Just seems a lot of GGG's critics have called for that fight, and it never interested me in the least. I never understood it. Many view me as a big critic of Gennady, and I've just never viewed Lara as this big challenge who could trouble G. In fact, if this fight were ever signed, I imagine many Golovkin fans would go overboard building him up as this incredible force, something which even grossly overshadows the way Lemieux was being cast as this monster as soon as he signed to face Gennady.

Incidentally, there is no doubt in my mind - none whatsoever - that Lara was robbed in his match with Paul Williams. It was a terrible decision.

Lara would be KTFO by GGG in the first round unless he runs like his fellow Cuban Rigo. If Angulo can drop him, GGG would murder him.

Lara is a top dog in 154 and getting paid good money why he's going to drop a belt to chase the goose what he's doing is right protecting his status and challenging GGG.

I don't know how anyone could watch old, slow, shopworn, former junior middleweight champ Kassim Ouma, coming off losses to everybody and their brother, step in the ring with Golovkin and give him one of the hardest fights of his career ...

And then with a straight face say that Erislandy Lara ... one of the fastest, most skilled junior middleweights on the planet today, who has arguably never lost a fight in the ring ... would have no chance against Golovkin and would get stopped in one.

    It's ridiculous.

Quality fights matter. Erislandy Lara is a quality fighter. He'd perform better than anyone Golovkin has faced to date because Lara is better than anyone Golovkin has faced to date.

    It's as simple as that.

By that rationale, if Sonny Banks could drop Muhammad Ali, George Foreman should've murdered him.

And Lara absolutely destroyed Angulo's head, made it swell to twice it's normal size, and stopped him.

Getting off the deck to win isn't something to be ridiculed. Not everyone can do that.

You mean the same Kassim Ouma who beat Vanes Martirosyan and K9 Bundrage and got robbed, and went the distance with and was competitive with Jermain Taylor and Rosado and beat Rubio, who then went on to lose basically every round and was brutally beaten to a bloody pulp and sent to the hospital by GGG, that guy? That's the shred of hope you all are clinging to?

Lara has lost and had many drawish matches, and they're deserved draws and losses and got dropped twice by a plodder and almost KO'd and you know DAMN well if GGG had any match that was that close, or he looked that poor in, that's all you assholes would be yapping about for years on here.

I've often been in agreement with you over the years dating back to Boxing Wise, but I think you're flat out wrong on this one, Dubblechin.

Can you clarify on what you mean? Do you think Lara would last more rounds than Murray? Or win more rounds than anyone he's recently faced?

In what sense do you figure Lara would perform better than anyone Golovkin has faced? I'm not seeing it at all.

That's okay. You can think I'm wrong. I won't hold it against you.

I think Lara would do better against Golovkin than anyone else Golovkin has faced would because Lara is better than they are.

I think his speed and movement would mean he'd be on the receiving end of fewer shots. I think he'd make Golovkin miss and counter. I think he'd be at his best and wouldn't get overconfident and slug it out - which he's done before and paid the price for doing it.

Lara's fought big punchers before and won. He's fought skilled boxers before and won. He's gotten off the floor to win. I've never seen anyone straight up beat him - which you can't say about basically everyone else Golovkin has fought before Golovkin fought them.

I don't know if Lara would win over 12 rounds, but I'd fully expect him to go the distance do a helluva lot better than anyone else has.

Despite all his losses and his diminishing skills, the southpaw Ouma more than held his own with Golovkin until the end. And Lara is bigger, faster, smoother and more talented than "The Dream" was.

The guy who beats Golovkin is going to do it boxing ... not slugging.

But you can disagree. I doubt they'll ever fight anyway.

    :good

I don't "yap" about Golovkin. I rarely post about him at all. But since his win last weekend, it's gotten a little out of hand.

He's a talented guy. But his opponents, by and large, have been terrible.

And for a guy in his mid 30s, who is supposed to be the best, he hasn't faced or beaten many guys of note.

If you have made 16 title defenses, and your biggest win was over Martin Murray, that's not good. If the middleweight champ won't fight you, fight the proven junior middleweight champ who WANTS to fight you.

Time is running out for him. He needs quality opponents. Erislandy Lara is a quality opponent who wants to fight him.
