MOST IMPORTANT. All the muscles are required, the body works as a whole.
Running a marathon is an aerobic activity, you use glucose, glycogen, lipids and amino acids as energy. Amino acids are what protein is made of, to put it simply you burn off your muscles with that sort of activity. That is a catabolic activity, it is going to make you weaker, fact.

    ive done a marathon...took 5 hours 13 min though.

    i know you burn everything.

im more so refering to the 18 week training period where you body adapts to a point where you have less chest shoulders back and arm mass so you can run easier.

Where do you pull this bull**** from? I could poke holes in your statement in so many different ways but I know that all you are doing is making things up and passing them off as fact. Some people actually know what they are talking about. You are one of those people who has a meaningless life and no friends so they compulsively lie and make up stories. I'm right aren't I? Sorry if you think I'm being mean but the thing that annoys me is not people not knowing but people deliberately misinforming others. Everyone who is reading- Ignore Ylems posts, the guy is clueless. Thank you.

I think Martini is the better book. A man who thinks he is as knowledgable as yourself should have no problems with it.

Are you being serious? Your body doesn't know what time is, why after 18 weeks would your body suddenly switch over to burning away your arms, chest, back and shoulders over everything else? You spout so much bull****, most of it makes no sense.

I'm confused. What are we classing as 'boxing drills?' I found this site that has lots of technical videos of skills, but I'm not sure that they are classed as drills. Anyway, they guy seems to know what he's talking about and has a bit of background on the About page. It's called MyBoxingCoach.com but be prepared, the guy has a really wierd accent.

    :patsch

Okay, first why don't you tell me why you claim that and what peer reviewed research papers you've read on the matter. I'll answer any question you like after that. What do you mean by adapt anyway? Is there a point when your body goes 'oh it's 18 weeks, I've adapted now'. Adapt in what way? I'm looking forward to what you make up next.

im not saying like instanly....during the entire time you train your body adapts to allow you to run better by burning more amino acids from the muscles that are used least.

i say 18 weeks because thats how long my training period was for the marathon.

It's not actually used the least, it's the largest muscles, if their mass isn't required they're used first. In this case it'd most likely be your legs to go first.

What does this have to do with the body catabolizing your chest, back, shoulders and arms?

My suggestion then is to write your own book of magical claims and theories, sit in the corner and keep reading it over and over again. You seem to enjoy your own bull**** and have no interest in facts.
