Having them face a top 5 ring ranked fighter should work. Generally, the guys w/ the belts are ranked near the top anyway.

Incorrect. This is so, because the champ has no obligation to fight anyone in the top 10 of the rankings. Winky Wright was not a top 10 LHW when he fought Hopkins. If he won, what would make him a better champ than say Dawson?

If Hopkins had faced Joe C right after Tarver, then I would have no qualms. But Winky is in no one's top ten @ 175 (or shouldn't be). And I highly doubt either Joe C or Hopkins will want to face Dawson should he best Glenn Johnson.

Nice try. Pointing out one champion who has a history of not trying to unify doesn't make it counter-productive. Most champions have no problem with wanting to unify. So they wouldn't mind such a scenario.

It isn't relevant even a little. You are trying to complicate something that isn't complicated at all. We are talking about what should be done and how it can happen. If you removed Mayweather from the equation, these guys all want to fight each other.

What am I talking about? Not gonna dignify that.

He beat Tarver way back in what, Mid 06... Then fought a middleweight in Mid 07 (a year in between fights, and Winky was CLEARLY not a top 5 ranked LHW)... And THEN signed to face the best SMW in a fight nearly a year after his last.

If his fight against Winky was NOT a defense of his RING title, then Hops is making the first defence of his RING title nearly 2 years after winning it.

If it was for the RING title, then Hops is making the first LEGITIMATE defence of his RING title nearly 2 years after winning it.

Get the list of champs each abc org and compare it to ring's list of champs. I think you will find Ring list of champs resembles urs and ours moreso than any other single abc belt. FACT. Therefore to conclude this matter, you have, unintentionally agreed that the Ring champs are indeed better than the ABC champs. FACT!

And oh, that problem doesnt only apply to the ring. Infact, you can be undisputed unified champ of the world but that doesnt necesarily make you a better fighter or champ than the up and coming ATG great prospect who happens to hold the WBU belt. In most cases though it does, as so does the Ring... Just look at Juan Diaz, he was unified LW champ yet it didnt necesarily mean he was better than Nate. /the point is someone is established through a system or lineage and whichever system produces best rankings = the best.

    So.

This is not what happens in general or as a rule. Like I said, it doesn't happen often enough for you to keep using it as the crux of your argument.

Ring's ranking are for the most part, much better then any other Org's ranking. If WInky won, he would be a legit top ten LtHW, but that would not make him better then Dawson.

The guy recognized as the champ, whether with the ring or not, isn't always the best. Baldomir was an excellent example of that.

Ok, so if Wlad becomes Chagaev's mando how do they enforce it? Who gets more money? Could the WBA justify giving the champ the smaller purse against a mando? Would Wlad accept parity? Wlad already has two belts and has mando's lined up, how can the WBA enforce the mando in a timely fashion when Wlad has two other mandos lined up?

If it's so easy and I'm just complicating things, then why don't they rank other champs? They all allow for optional defenses. They allow for optional defenses against other champs. They've also made it easier for fighters to unify.

Seriously, I don't know what you were refering to there.

This is extremely misleading. Pretty much every ring champ is also an ABC champ. There are 4 ABC champs. Therefore, pretty much anyone's list of the top fighters in each division will more closely resemble the Ring champs rather than any single org.

The rankings have nothing to do with whom the champ defends his title against. Being that this is the case, how are the rankings relevant in determining the quality of the champion?

You are asking about variables that can easily be resolved if the fighters refuse to come to a resolution. Make them take parity. And when a champion becomes a mandatory based on rankings, don't call them a "mandatory", call them unification bouts. All scenarios have holes that need to be accounted for. But so does the current system.

Why don't they rank other champs? Because it doesn't benefit them to, especially financially. It would involve a change in rules that messes with their money.

I have mentioned the "special circumstances" that the ABC orgs use to circumvent their rules with little to no consistancy when they choose a number of times, and you have responded back. The same circumstances they have envoked to allow Mayweather to not fight a mandatory at all, and Diaz as well.

There it is. I'd also like to see the caveat thrown in that if the Ring champ announces his retirement in any way, shape, or form, he automatically vacates his Ring belt. Guys who have created big enough "names" to use retirement as a bargaining chip shouldn't also have the ability to remain the "legitimate champ" forever.

Well duh. Exactly why the RIngs rankings makes the most sense as I been saying from the start, they are not bias in their rankings. They can mix fighters from different orgs. Like I said, the Ring rankings and list of champs are better than any other SINGLE ABC ranking/list of champs out there because of the way they rank. The only thing that can better them is a unified champ that is champ of all 4 major belts. this wasnt about Ring vs All ABC belts put together, this was ring vs singe abc rankings.

And you pretty much shot yourself in the foot there. "Therefore, pretty much anyone's list of the top fighters in each division will more closely resemble the Ring champs rather than any single org". You just admitted that the list of The Ring champs are better than any single org. If thats the case, case closed. Ring champs = the best as the champ is suppose to be the recognised best and if people's recognised champs resembles the Ring more than B Alphabet, surely that champ should be higher regarded than B alphabet!
