Very interesting Ice. I think that you are absolutely right and that recollections do get distorted over time, so that the "popular" impression about a given fight may not reflect what actually happened in the ring. As you make clear in your piece, the only way to truly know what happened, for oneself, is to view the fight in question. Most people don't have the time, or opportunity, to view all these fights, so they simply go with what they've heard or read. And for fights without film, outside of reading primary source accounts, there's really no way to get any idea of what really happened. Interesting topic - thanks for posting it.
