Hutchinson flipping up jabs and even throwing some combos backing up; at day's end he's a gutsy guy who isn't even remotely in the league of (and getting steadily beaten down very publicly by) a shot-to-hell showboat four-division paper-champ.

This is truly sad. From the POV of Broner, what's saddest is that we've not had a single 10-8 round.

Ref stands on the ring apron just as the bell rings to sound round 10, inspecting Hutchinson. Mancini, curiously, who a few rounds ago was lambasting the corner of Hutchinson for not stopping it, now pleads with the ref to not take away his chance to finish on his feet.

 

Hutchinson circling around Broner, crossing his arms to block, tossing in jabs and rights. Hutchinson busy but inaccurate. Broner sitting back, countering with jabs now and then but mostly just slipping punches and evading, protecting his wide lead. No intention of closing the show. Hutchinson pressing, trying, high output but can't make anything work. Broner fends him off with a right hand knuckling the forehead to hold him off.

Almost want to give Hutch that as token pity round, but it would feel disingenuous. Couldn't hit a barn with a bazooka from ten feet away.

 

I know I voluntarily committed myself to a Don King show, but ...

CHRIST, that was horrendous.

The only silver lining was getting to see Adlay Rodríguez and Brayan Leon, but...those are blue-chip prospects, they would have popped up on the radar sooner or later. Hopefully neither languishes too long under King's thumb and withers on the vine.
